The kind of ministry model I studied during my sabbatical last year.
The Rev. Mike Mather walks with the youth at Broadway United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. The church has closed many of its traditional helping ministries and created new ways to connect and support the community surrounding it. Photos by Kelly Wilkinson. by: Robert King ...

Last month, "This American Life" did a 2-part episode on police and their communities. I can't recommend it highly enough. Their careful, in-depth, and fair storytelling approach is so badly needed. Your eyes will be opened, no matter what "side" of the debate you think you're on.

Ten days after 9/11, a shocking attack at a Texas mini-mart shattered the lives of two men: the victim and the attacker. In this stunning talk, Anand Giridharadas, author of "The True American," tells the story of what happened next. It's a parable about the two paths an American life can take, and a powerful call for reconciliation.

This is so good.

Fascinating video depicting Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness. Includes the powerful aspect of exhaustion.

How hard it is to enter the Kingdom of God! Thu, February 19, 2015 0 comments Written by John Carter Faithful Living, Scripture. I'm not a Christian because it makes my life easier; to the contrary, it makes my life harder. It's easier to fear than it is to love. It's easier to hold grudges ...

"We come with our beautiful families, our harmonious marriages, our successful careers. We know we’re wearing costumes; we sit in our cars picking the lint of shame off of them before we enter the sanctuary. What we don’t believe is that anyone else is wearing one. We believe they (whoever “they” are) have everything together...We look at them and our shame deepens and we become convinced that we have to work harder on our costumes, shine up our shields of perfection."
