Perfect weather for boogie boarding over the past 3 weeks in Port Douglas. #CoralSeaVillas    is 100 metres from the netted area patrolled by surf lifesavers.  From November to May swimmers are strongly advised to swim in the nets on 4 Mile beach.

The wind created some swell today which made ideal conditions for a little BOOGIE - boarding that is on #4MileBeach
See the staff at #CoralSeaVillas  to borrow a board and hit the glassy sets.

The Glengarry Big 4 Holiday Park has just installed a new water park and playground.  The park is situated 10 kilometres south of the centre of Port Douglas on the Mowbray River road. Max and Margie welcome holiday makers and locals to cool down on the numerous slides, in the pool or enjoy the playground area.  The slides cater for all ages from 3 year olds  with supervision to adults.  So if you need to cool off - take the family to the Mowbray Valley and ENJOY !!!!

The kids will love a trip to the Insect Museum in the Daintree.  The museum has some amazing insect and spider specimens.  This stick insect measures 18 centimetres - we grow them big here in Queensland - it  is an example of some of the oversized specimens on show at the museum.  Just a one hour drive from Port Douglas the butterflies, moths and spiders will provide the family an education in entomology

Wildlife Habitat is a wonderful place to visit with children.  The park has a huge  variety of Australian birds and mammals.  Opening at 8 am for Breakfast with the Birds in the restaurant you can enjoy a continental breakfast of hot buffet breakfast with many feathered friends dropping in to join you.  The park has three differing habitat areas - the grasslands, the wetlands and the rainforest and is designed to allow guests to free range with most of the animals.  There are also presentation areas where keepers display reptiles and the koalas for photo a opportunity.  The park is open until 5 pm however there is a 2 hour nocturnal guided tour  available subject to demand.  Entry to the park is valid for 3 consecutive days so talk to our staff about a tour.  The park has the only captive breeding pair of Jabiru storks in the world and off-spring from the breeding pair pictured below are sent to zoos all over Australia.
