Regardless of the format or medium, however, most tell a story.

This is why there is little difference between the essential ingredients of a blog post and an advertorial.

I had to look up what you wrote about an #advertorial from wikipedia.

An advertorial is an advertisement in the form of editorial content. The term "advertorial" is a blend of the words "advertisement" and "editorial." Merriam-Webster
Heh cool, +Demian Farnworth. The teaser just wasn't enough information until I looked that up. I assumed that there would be others who wouldn't know that marketing term. So, I shared that, too.
I like the point about agitating the pain. I tend to do this subtly but the examples here are a bit more obvious... I'm going to try this in my next blog post. 
I think an important question regards the fine line between audience deception -- at what point do you make a disclosure that this is sponsored content. A reader can feel tricked and forever suspicious of the media outlet. Any thoughts here?

A good article with helpful suggestions. The overuse of the feminine pronoun though is an unnecessary distraction. For a general audience the third person would have been more inclusive. Thanks though. I'm a big fan of Copyblogger.
