How to Create an Entryway in your Apartment

There’s nothing like a well thought out front entryway to give you a sense of arriving home. But you may be experiencing this common issue in the apartment you rent: the front door opens directly into the living room. Without a formal foyer, your apartment home might lack a defined space to land.

Here’s a list of clever ideas to create the feeling of an entryway even when there isn’t one.

Take a seat. Add a small bench with storage cubes underneath for your shoes.

Light it up. Add a lighting element to the area, either by stringing some lights around the doorframe or by adding a small lamp on an entryway table.

Create a division. Put a beautiful room divider or shelving unit between the front entryway space you’re creating and the main room the door opens into.

Get artsy fartsy. Add some art on the wall next to your front door. You can splurge on a colorful painting or add something as simple as framed photographs from your Instagram feed.

Roll out the red carpet. Add a low lying doormat or rug by the door. The softness on your feet will be a physical cue that you’re home sweet home.

Let us help make the search for your next home easier. Here’s a quick run down on top questions to consider during your apartment rental search process.

Price - What does it cost for the apartment (studio, 1, 2, 3, or 4 bedroom) you’re looking for? What does that price include?
Neighborhood - What’s the neighborhood like? Where would you grocery shop? What restaurants, cafes, retail centers, entertainment and cultural venues are in the area?
Transportation - What would your commute to school or work look like? Is there public transportation nearby?
Lifestyle - Is the community pet friendly? What do the interior of the apartments look like? What community amenities are available? Are there any social events at the apartment community?

Two months ago, I located Copper Mountain Apartments. And, from day one, I knew I'd love this place... Megan has such a pleasant demeanor...Marissa is supportive...Brandy, the manager is caring and Billy, the maintenance supervisor, insures that most work orders are completed within 24 hours or less. Not to mention, everyone is very professional. Yes, the apartment complex is like three decades old; however, it is " WELL" maintained...Thanks Billy and your lightening fast crew... Most importantly, here I am not just a resident; I'm a member of a delightful community...So, if you're in the market for a quiet, friendly and centrally located apartment to call home---look no further than Copper Mountain Apartments...By the way, if this post entices you to become one of my newest neighbors...You can thank me later :0)

Lived here from 2012-2013. Only reason why I didn't renew my lease is because I got deployed then pcs'd as soon as I got back. Loved it here and never had any issues. Would always go to but walk back from Pluckers on the weekends cause it right around the corner :-) Thanks Copper Mtn for making it a nice place to hang my hat for a bit.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. They will do anything they can to make you pay if you have to PCS or if you have orders. If you get married, they're not okay with it. They will do ANYTHING They can to make you break contract. They've had complaints about maintenance coming into the apartments and stealing money and medicines. they never fix anything they say they will and theyre just all around a terrible apartment. TOO EXPENSIVE for what they offer.
Response from the owner - 2 years ago
Cassandra, we are truly sorry your Copper Mountain experience has not exceeded your expectations. Please drop into the Leasing Office to share details, and more feedback on how we can improve our maintenance procedures. Thanks for choosing Copper Mountain.

Good things: quiet and when I moved in with my husband they gave me time to find a job before I needed to be added to the lease. BAD THINGS: apartment flooded, people smoking inside, allowing too much un-permitted parking. IF YOU ARE SOLDIER, DO NOT GO HERE. They made it extremely difficult to move out, my husband deployed and they try their hardest to screw you out of every dollar. They deal with military all the time, they know how to work around the system. Don't be fooled, they HATE the fact that spouses can leave the property if you deploy, because it causes more work for them to find a new tenant. Make sure that if you give them your orders, make SURE you get a copy that you informed them. They will "lose" it and try to make you pay your full year. They do not respect the fact that you serve your country, they see you as a walking dollar sign. Also, you don't need to write me any bull**it about how you thank me for my review and welcome feedback and that crap. We both know you'll still get soldiers coming in looking for a place to stay, but if I can help one person realize you guys are a scam, then I have done my job.

Extremely disappointed. There has been nothing but issues over the entire course of our lease here. Everything ranging from theft to poor maintenance. Our AC/Heating unit has blown out at least 7 times now over the course of just a few months- And it didn't simply stop working, it actually started smoking and filled up our entire apartment with my pregnant wife inside and when we called up there they acted as though that was completely normal.. After the 3rd or 4th time we put in a work order we were told the entire unit would be replaced with a more up to date digital unit. Not only did they never follow through with that promise they never came to fix it at all and we had to keep calling to keep them on top of it. My wife's underwear was stolen from the laundry facility downstairs at least 3 or 4 times, we called to let management know and they basically said "that's too bad, and maybe whoever did it cant afford underwear." So my wife decided to put a note up on the billboard in the laundry room saying that the police will be involved if we catch whoever is doing it- The next day management called us and said that they took the note down because it was "unprofessional, and tacky." They didn't want it to cause concern for the other tenants.. Luckily there is google review. I would rather live in a box on Ft. Hood street than continue business with this complex. There is a whole slew of issues wrong with this place- Loud domestic disputes, people letting their dogs running around freely without picking up their poop, marijuana and cigarette smoke seeping through your vents, tenants leaving trash for weeks on their porches.. Way too overpriced for the quality of living here. LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Hi Patrick, thanks for your review. We appreciate your tenancy, and we regret that some aspects of your time with us here at Copper Mountain have not been optimal. We will be more than happy to re-open any maintenance requests, or to have one of our maintenance team members do a walkthrough of your home to makes sure everything is working with your AC unit. While we do not have control over resident behavior, we regret that you've had clothing items stolen during visits to our laundry facilities...when theft of your belongings occurs, we have incident reporting that we use for documentation, and that is the preferred method, rather than posting individual communications from residents up in flyer form. We welcome your honest feedback, so we want to thank you for that, and please continue to let us know how we are doing. We would love to have you remain with us here at Copper Mountain, and hope you'll be interested in partnering with us to make that happen, let us know what we need to do to make it right. Thanks! After moving from Killeen to the Fort Hood area, I soon realized there were not many options for apartments. However after running around and looking for quite some time, and dealing with everything from shady management to poorly remodeled units, I ran across Copper Mountain Apartments. (The main reason I in fact ran into them was because the apartments across the street took an extended lunch by almost an hour!) As soon as I walked in, I was genuinely greeted by who are now my favorite office assistants. Anytime I have ever needed assistance with anything while using their computer lab, they never hesitated. The maintenance request orders were always put in and completed not only on time, but properly as well. While taking a look at my remodeled unit, I fell in love almost immediately. All brand new black appliances, granite-style counter tops, big bathroom mirrors, and a cozy color scheme. The management team clearly has a good system in place, values their residents, and can accommodate anyone looking to live in comfort. Now that I am moving, I really hope the next apartment complex has an awesome team like theirs. Thank Brandy, Megan and Marissa! - JU

Zero accountability, absolutley no concern for anyone. The office manger, is the worst of all. Simply makes excuses for why things don't happen and goes "I don't know what to tell you." There are many better complexes (better prices, too) even right across the street or within a few miles that don't back up to a semi-rundown shopping complex. I don't know how this place is still in business.

Thank you for your review. We are truly sorry your Copper Mountain experience was not all you hoped for. We do thank you for sharing your feedback, and should you be considering an apartment community in the future, we hope you'll give us another chance to earn your trust. Best to you!
