the color blue
I love the color blue, like the blue skies we see often here in Florida. I often take pictures of the blue skies and the puffy white clouds. I have blue eyes and I love blue jeans.  I don't feel blue very often, but I love blues music. My favorite Joni Mitc...

it's a wonderful life
I could be handy, mending a fuse when your lights have gone You can knit a sweater by the fireside Sunday mornings go for a ride Doing the garden, digging the weeds Who could ask for more? Will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm sixty-four? ...

it really is the little things ...
Is December always so warm? I can't remember. I am thinking, probably not. This week it's been mostly highs in the mid-fifties and so pretty. Our bees have been flying, making me wish I could drop everything just to sit and watch them. Out on errands one day, I spied more than half a dozen clear ...

Hubby has a new hobby!
My darling husband loves woodworking. He built our kitchen cabinets, the island in the office with cubbies for paper and books and such, and a shed for our generator, just in case we're hit by a hurricane and have no power. Recently, he found something new...

Thanks for the memories ...
Singer-songwriter Lesley Gore, who topped the charts in 1963 at age 16 with her epic song of teenage angst, "It's My Party," and followed it up with the hits "Judy's Turn to Cry," and the feminist anthem "You Don't Own Me," died this week. She was 68. This ...

Being picky about grammar and punctuation in writing, I find this to be a terrific resource for the humble hyphen. Thanks to the Grammar Girl!

Catching up ...
There's something about that phrase, "Catching up ..." that I find very appealing. How do you do it? Do you ever achieve your goal? Whatever time you take to "catch up" is time you cannot spend doing something else, so aren't you, then, always behind? After...

I like what Vince Lombardi said:

"If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?"

Pretty much sums it up for me.

We arrived late Friday night of Labor Day weekend and Dennis had provided everything we needed, from room key and wi-fi code, to directions to the fridge for a cold drink. He and Mark went way beyond just making us and our dog feel at home! They were fun to get to know and we left on Labor Day, promising to return again! Our room #6 was clean and quiet and the porch is to die for! A rainy Satuday afternoon allowed us to curl up in a big chair on the porch and enjoy the quiet solitude in this little piece of heaven!
