"In order to arrive at the right movement, it is first necessary to think of a better movement rather that the right, the right movement has no future development, the latter can be improved — the right remains the limit forever."
—Moshe Feldnekrais

"There is no intention to correct you. Your trouble and mine is that we are trying to behave correctly, as one should, at the cost of quenching, with our own consent, our individuality." —Moshe Feldenkrais

A wonderful post by Carrie Lafferty on embodying a powerful walk. I adore her beautiful & movement, "The Walking Way" Audio Set (http://bit.ly/1UAFJdy)

Favorite Bit From This ARTicle:
"How do you learn to sense effort? It requires playfulness and curiosity. Reduce the speed of your movements to allow new movement options to be noticed. Cultivate an open, non-judgmental attitude and you’ll notice that novel understandings begin to emerge."

Do you have a powerful walk? Pause for a moment while you ponder this question. Notice inside. Does a certain feeling or 'image' arise inside of you as you imagine the inner sensation of your walk? Can you sense if you have to do something inside in order to feel yourself walking powerfully?

Try this simple walking awareness practice for a couple of weeks and discover a new sense of ease in your everyday movements.

The walking Awareness Through Movement® practice is best done on a natural, uneven surface. Take a walk in the park, on the grass or at the beach. Invite a friend and share what you discover.

One of my favorite parts of the day is the Dawn Chorus— that moment when the sun is just starting to rise and all the birds are singing at once to welcome a new day.

There is something so glorious to sensing the light through closed eyelids, drinking in the sounds of nature and gently embracing a morning practice like the one in this post.

What's your favorite way to welcome the day?

This short film is phenomenal. I adore the well-rounded holistic approaches of integrating Nutrition, The Feldenkrais Method and more conscious Life Choices.

I am now approaching my 2nd year of attending Feldenkrais sessions and classes. As I continue to experience nothing short of phenomenal growth in so many areas, I feel compelled to share some of what has become such a positive and integral part of my life.   While Feldenkrais methods and awareness practices deal with more than just pain relief, that is why I became interested in it.  I have a genetic, systemic form of arthritis (Ankylosing Spondylitis) that was diagnosed in 1978.  That was 36 years ago. I was taking over 15 different medications.  I was in constant pain and stopped working and went on disability 18 yrs. ago.  And after trying 20+ other types of treatment, I felt that there was nothing that could change the patterns which continually made my life so difficult. When I read about Feldenkrais I immediately searched for a practitioner in the Albany, NY area.  I feel as if I'd struck gold, because the Feldenkrais Practitioner I found (websites to follow) turned out to be just what the doctor ordered (!).  I firmly believe that none of the positive changes that have occurred would have been possible without the unrivaled dedication, love and guidance of Buffy Owens, Feldenkrais Practitioner and so much more. Her knowledge of and passion for The Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education was so contagious that I became an instant fan of hers and the method.  The proof has been in the proverbial pudding: I have significantly reduced the # of medications I take/took regularly and have cut way back on the dosages of others. There has been such a reduction in pain overall that I was able to do things I hadn’t done in years, even decades, including riding my bicycle, cooking, and my main love, playing guitar. Buffy and Feldenkrais have brought to me a deep awareness of my body, how I move, how I use it to deal with pain, ways to breathe deeply and relax, increase function and awareness and much, much more. Last - but hardly least - is the fact that there are always new things to learn with each Feldenkrais class and private session at Conscious Movements. Knowledge that is always beneficial and continually appreciated.
