Earth Day is a great chance to remind ourselves that rethinking our actions - even small actions - can make a big difference for the planet. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps will do that in his new role as global ambassador for Colgate and The Nature Conservancy's Save Water: #EveryDropCounts campaign. He's working to get 10 million kids to commit to turning the water off when they're brushing their teeth. "When you brush your teeth for two minutes and leave the water running, you waste four to five gallons of water," he says. "That number is astronomical."

Recently, we had the opportunity to visit Killington Resort in Vermont for some world-class skiing at the largest ski area in the northeast. Cotton was once the fourth-largest export crop from Haiti, providing a source of income for farmers and an extremely high-quality product to companies around the world. Thirty years after it disappeared from farmers' fields, it may be making a comeback.

+Timberland and the Smallholder Farmers Alliance were catalysts for a major reforestation project in Haiti. Now they're moving on to their next project: bringing cotton back to the island nation (and ensuring it's sustainably grown and benefits the nation's farmers).
