Been having this nagging thought about systemd turning into basically being a microkernel. Or at least a microvisor. But without the design pedigree of e.g. Fiasco-UX (L4) that can also run as a userspace process.
I've noticed over the last few months that Evolution (mail client) was getting a little slow. Filtering and indexing the 30k+ emails in my Inbox seemed like a good explanation. A quick check with 'strace -p' seemed to confirm this as the slowdown happened right after opening the file 'filters.xml'. Looking at the file revealed the real culprit: massively duplicated filter rules. Up to 16384 times for some rules #facepalm GNOME bug number 761384 filed :)
