"House of Horrors"

The beauty of its appearance belies the fact that, for 12 years, this house was home to America's most prolific killer.  Jessica Fletcher dispatched friends, family and neighbors at such a pace that the small town of Cabot Cove had a murder rate 50% higher than Honduras, then the worlds most dangerous country.  Of course, her real genius lay in devising elaborate "whodunnits" such that each and every time she was able to pin the blame on some unsuspecting patsy...

"Just about to be proved" is an exaggeration, but this work on the twin-prime conjecture is amazing. Shows that mathematicians can always in that field's equivalent of a moon landing or higgs boson discovery. And after >>100yrs of effort, it could be our daughters that crack this down to 2. :-)

Congratulations to all math fans! Twin Prime conjecture is just about to be proved!

This is profoundly disturbing, and an enormous problem for America. "Hey Entrepreneur, if the jobs you create are too numerous or too well paid, watch out! We know where you live."

Text NSFW.
Google Ventures partner Kevin Rose says that his San Francisco home was visited by protesters today, who held up a banner calling him a "parasite" and..

$5bn investment by +Intel is great news, & shows huge trust in Ireland Inc.

And - like buying Irish bonds in the last few years - faith in Ireland's long-term prospects is generally rewarded. (unless you're a soccer fan) #twt

Georgia's only billionaire is worth $5.2 billion, "equivalent to 32% of his country’s GDP"(!) Satisfyingly, his home looks like a Bond villain's.

Bidzina Ivanishvili tops our list for the 10 tycoons with the biggest fortunes relative to their countries' GDPs.
From his perch in a 108,000 square-foot mansion carved into the bluffs overlooking Tbilisi, Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili lords over his homeland.

If you're a parent, this might cause you terror, or relief. "Regardless of a family's social class, racial or ethnic background, or a child's grade level, consistent homework help almost never improved test scores or grades." But #1 on the (very short) list of what generally works? Simply "_expecting_ your child to go to college". The essential ingredient is "for parents to communicate the value of schooling."

I've seen and read many other papers which have studied this stuff over much longer periods that say otherwise...parental involvement is key really.

When I pay my car insurance directly via bank transfer I get:
"Amount above includes a $ 5.00 Convenience Fee for electronic payment".

A what? A convenience fee? As in. For them to not have to open an envelope and go and cash my check and wait for it to clear?

Setting screen time rules for kids - worth the fight? Only for improved sleep, better grades, less aggressive behavior, and lower risk of obesity (research published in JAMA Pediatrics). Thanks +Stephen Holder for highlighting.

Turning off the TV, etc. definitely leads to occasional whining around here... But when we end up going for a family bike ride or reading a book instead, I think its worth it.

Poignant yet inspiring.

Sure it uses too many words, and goes on a bit long.. (common Irish flaws, I hear) But a great reminder that #Ireland is emerging from the scrum, battered but unbowed. And still in possession of the ball. #twt
