Our Public Properties Division has started the renovation of the pool at Kimball Park! This renovation will similarly reflect the renovation we recently completed at Guyette Pool at Rolfe Park, which will include full ADA accessibility “zero-entry” access to the pool, improved deck floor traction, exciting new gusher jet features, a beach style ramp, and increased deck drainage to reduce slips, trips, and falls. The existing pool structure will be fully replaced and the facility will be upgraded with new lavatory fixtures, signs, and a fresh coat of paint. Energy efficiency will also be improved with new lighting and water filtration media.

Most of the construction will be finished for the season by early October with final touches completed in the spring for the new pool to be ready in time for the next pool season. #ConcordNH

We won the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) 2016 Source Water Sustainability Award!

Clark Freise, Assistant Commissioner of NHDES (pictured left), presented the award a few weeks ago to Josh Worthen, our Water Conservation Technician (pictured right), at NHDES' Annual Drinking Water Source Protection Conference. We received the award for our efforts in maintaining the sustainability of Concord's drinking #water source, Penacook Lake. Some of our #sustainability efforts include leak detection, quarterly water audits, and promoting water conservation to the Concord community.

Thank you, NHDES for this award! We are proud to provide the #ConcordNH community with a sustainable water supply.

We encourage #ConcordNH #water consumers to conserve water consumption as #drought conditions continue to develop in New Hampshire. Our water supply is sufficient to meet current demands and an emergency supply is available if necessary, but water consumers should still use water wisely during this period. Even with some recent rain, the state is experiencing severe conditions. Visit www.concordnh.gov/conservation for water conservation tips that can help reduce water consumption or www.concordnh.gov/irrigation for proper irrigation techniques.

We appreciate all efforts to continue to use water wisely to preserve our community’s water resource. Visit NHDES's website for statewide drought updates at http://des.nh.gov. #WhenInDrought

Last week, our sewer crew completed an installation of a new drain manhole on the intersection of Pembroke Road and Canterbury Road. A recent sinkhole in this area led crews to discover a drainage system failure that required immediate attention. Crews tied in the new drain to a 30" main drain line and also installed a new catch basin to tie into the new manhole drain. This project was done to repair and upgrade the existing drainage system for more efficient water flow and will also increase road safety in the area by preventing any potential future road collapse. #ConcordNH

Our East Concord Water Tank was inspected and cleaned yesterday as part of routine maintenance. A diver from our contracted vendor, Underwater Solutions, was disinfected and sent into the tank to complete a full inspection of the walls, floor, and roof. Any naturally occurring sediment that has accumulated on the floor has been vacuumed up to complete the floor inspection. All of Concord's #water storage tanks are inspected once every five years to proactively identify any potential concerns, allowing them to be addressed if found to prevent any possible failures. Water service is not disrupted, nor is water quality impacted, during tank inspections. This routine maintenance protects the City's water system for the community. #ConcordNH
