Some foods and beverages aren’t smile friendly. When you eat or drink them, their heavy dyes stain your smile. While brushing can help alleviate some of the staining, it’s best to just avoid these foods for a few weeks (or months!) before an important photoshoot. Bright, juicy fruits like blueberries and cherries are known smile-stainers, but beverages like black tea, coffee, and cola are far worse. https://goo.gl/fo7Xaz

If you want your wedding photos to reflect your best smile, there are some foods and beverages you’re going to need to avoid or at least cut back on for the next few months. Bright, juicy fruits like blueberries and cherries are off the table. Soy sauce and other dark condiments should also be avoided. Instead of cola or ice tea, choose sprite or 7-up. Pick lightly coloured herbal teas instead of dark coloured black tea. And choose colourless alcoholic beverages in tonic water instead of red wine or cola-based drinks. https://goo.gl/PhOfL5

The Canadian Dental Association recommends regular checkups and cleanings, pointing out that for most people, this means visits every 6 months. Incidentally, this is often the frequency which medical insurance will cover. Your regular checkup includes checking for tooth decay (it’s easiest to deal with decay when it is in the very earliest stages), as well as a thorough cleaning which removes plaque and tartar. This will help to reduce incidence of gum disease and advanced tooth decay. Regular visits reduce the chance you’ll need a strong intervention like a root canal or even tooth extraction, since they can catch problems early! https://goo.gl/YdVsa0
