Congratulations to Matt Briggs, High School English and Middle School writing teacher, on the publication of his of his original photograph and story, "Some Farm." The story is published on 1:1000, a web compilation of writer's stories honoring the adage "a picture is worth a thousand words." Says Mr. Briggs about his recent achievement, "I would probably never have written this without the professional development opportunities Commonwealth Academy has provided me, so THANK YOU!" To Mr. Briggs, we return the "thank you" for sharing your story, and for serving as a wonderful role model and mentor to your students.

Friday night's 15th Annual CARE Awards were a huge success. Attended by over 110 families, friends, and C/A faculty and staff, the evening kicked off the Kentucky Derby with its own 'Run for the Roses' theme. The event raised over $25,000; from these proceeds, seven professional development grants were awarded to C/A faculty members Jeff Brown, Megan Burgess, Steve Maczynski, Rose-Marie Parker, Santiago Sere, Geoff Stanton, and Clay Teagle.
Congratulations also go to our C/A Achievers on their recent college graduations, John Johnson, who received an Award of Distinction, and Mari Foret and Ksenya Litvak for their 10 years of service. The always anticipated Educator of the Year Award went to Director of Marketing Cathy Feehan, Director of Communications Mari Foret, and New Media Teacher Ricardo Pontes.
Many thanks to all of those who generously supported the event and came out to celebrate C/A's dedicated faculty and staff.
