#COLORBONDbyDesign entry by REFRESH*DESIGN @like.refreshdesign

This house is located in a quiet beachside suburb close to Byron Bay, NSW. The neighbouring suburban architecture combines a mix of traditional Queensland timber cottage-style houses and shack-like structures - of which many, overtime, have been developed to small houses. In consideration of the context, the design aimed to produce a ‘re-interpretation’ of the beach shack vernacular in a contemporary way by embracing traditional materials, including corrugated metal, fibre cement sheeting and timber elements.
Out of the metallic COLORBOND® steel range we chose “Façade” combined with “Panel Rib” metal cladding, which achieves a subtle play with light and reflection throughout the day and season, while at the same time creating a very calming and welcoming atmosphere within a harmonious and minimalist palette of finishes. COLORBOND® steel cladding met the client's brief to be low maintenance and hard wearing, yet elegant and was therefore very well received.
