#52Ancestors: Maria Aurelia Compean (1858-1963), Lived to Be 105 or 100 or 95 Years of Age

My extended family has always proudly claimed my great-grandmother lived to 105 years. But the most credible records I've found thus far indicate she most likely was only 95 years old. Only 95? I still hope Dad inherited those healthy long-living genes!

My favorite photo is the only photo I have with my great-grandmother, Maria (Nieto) Robledo, who died when I was just over three years old. I thought I had lost this. I was overjoyed to find it again! Not just because it's the only photo of the two of us,…

Oh my. I'm not a patient person either, and this must be the hardest thing in the world to wait for! I hope you get a reply soon.

I recently had my DNA analyzed too. While no big surprises showed up, it was interesting. And the service I used also matches you up with potential relatives (if you wish)

#52Ancestors: Fourth great-grandfather Jose Victoriano Compean exemplifies Mexican naming conventions

Mexican naming conventions can make genealogical research very difficult, and also very easy. My 4th great-grandfather Jose Victoriano Compean (b. abt. 1803) and his family are a very good representation of this dichotomy.

I met with Dr. Piroutek and his staff for the first time today (referred by a coworker and friend). He was great. The staff is great. All very very gentle, friendly, and considerate -- particularly to patients like me who are terrified of the dentist (I had Dr. Tony Protopappas as a child, the murderer dentist from Orange County). I went in forcibly due to a tooth that broke on Friday, and had full X-rays and exams today, as well as my first cleaning. I go back for a temporary, and then permanent crown for the broken tooth. I went in extremely nervous, and left very relieved and happy. The doctor is great. And I love that he doesn't try to talk patients into unnecessary work; he is also very willing to schedule things out as needed across multiple insurance years.

Good, fun, fusion sushi flavors. Traditional sushi is not their style. A bit overpriced for us to eat at every time we crave sushi.
