Identifying My Immigrant Great Grandfather's Parents,

Two new documents found last month helped me to finally start busting down another 15+ year old brick wall, providing the first references to the names of my great-grandfather José Robledo's parents. Not even Dad, his cousins, or his uncle (José's sole…

With Whom Did 2nd Great Grandmother Maria Aurelia Compean Immigrate from Mexico in 1919?

My 2nd great-uncle left the devastation of the Mexican Revolution for a chance at a new start in a new country, working in the copper mines of Butte, Montana during WWI. But was he there for the Speculator disaster of 1917?

Finally Confirming the Name of My 2nd Great-Grandfather, Refugio Nieto

My living branch of Dad's extended family never knew the name of his Nieto great-grandfather, who died in Mexico before the family immigrated to the U.S. After more than 15 years of looking, I finally locate documentation that confirms his name.

#52Ancestors: Maria Aurelia Compean (1858-1963), Lived to Be 105 or 100 or 95 Years of Age

My extended family has always proudly claimed my great-grandmother lived to 105 years. But the most credible records I've found thus far indicate she most likely was only 95 years old. Only 95? I still hope Dad inherited those healthy long-living genes!

I met with Dr. Piroutek and his staff for the first time today (referred by a coworker and friend). He was great. The staff is great. All very very gentle, friendly, and considerate -- particularly to patients like me who are terrified of the dentist (I had Dr. Tony Protopappas as a child, the murderer dentist from Orange County). I went in forcibly due to a tooth that broke on Friday, and had full X-rays and exams today, as well as my first cleaning. I go back for a temporary, and then permanent crown for the broken tooth. I went in extremely nervous, and left very relieved and happy. The doctor is great. And I love that he doesn't try to talk patients into unnecessary work; he is also very willing to schedule things out as needed across multiple insurance years.

Good, fun, fusion sushi flavors. Traditional sushi is not their style. A bit overpriced for us to eat at every time we crave sushi.
