A motorcyclist loses his bike in a flash flood in Colorado and recovers it two weeks later.
If you've seen the movie The Dark Knight remember with me the scene where the Joker presents a giant pile of cash to one of the mob bosses who hired him. Then he proceeds to burn it. Sending a very clear message.
Then the Joker gives this one line that came to me again today. It came after seeing yet another irresponsibly gathered piece (or pieces) of information and spread quickly because the audience helping to spread it either didn't know better or didn't take the time to know better.
I see this happen frequently, and it lights me up. Why? You see, I'm a guy with simple taste. I enjoy precision, and craftsmanship, and information integrity.
And do you know what they all have in common?
They're in short supply in the world of "social media marketing experts", "gurus", "digital ninjas", and "consultants".
When I see these inaccurate, poorly conceived, recklessly executed pieces of content being circulated, it fires me up. Am I perfect? No-- I'm notorious for typos in my writing. But when I create something for dustn.tv I put every ounce of creative energy and appreciation for information integrity into it.
I cannot say that for 90% of the "experts" I see out there.
This [internet] deserves a better class of [social media professional] and I'm going to [do my darnedest to] give it to 'em.
When I finally normalize my content creation schedule (having a new baby and simultaneously taking care of a recovering wife and a toddler is no joke) I'm going to war against bad content.
To all the careless social media phoneys out there, "tell your [audience] they [read from] me now."
I will be locking arms with people like , , , , , , , , , , , , , , and many others here on Google+ who refuse to accept anything but excellence.
This may come as a surprise to them, but this year they (and many others who I just don't have time to mention) are a part of my mission to muscle out the world of bad content and crappy advice.
2014 is going to be a year to remember.
