Something I've been tinkering with..
See this demo of a Squarespace Cover page with a looping video background. This uses a locally hosted video rather than a video from YouTube, Vimeo or other streaming video services.  Method to follow.

Thanks for that - very helpful. It looks like the play button is on a layer above everything else.

I can script around that so that iOS/Android use default content and only computers trigger the script that swaps in the video.

I ran a test to measure user engagement on my +Squarespace website.

The good news is that my true Bounce Rate is far lower than Google Analytics reports and around a third of visitors read to the bottom of my articles.

If Google Analytics shows a big bounce rate for your +Squarespace Index Pages this article explains that things probably aren't as bad as they seem.
Squarespace Index pages don't trigger Google Analytics tracking for subpages loaded via Ajax.  This means you can't tell whether users are interacting with Index pages or just abandoning them.  This article explains the problem and then demonstrates a custom script that enables this valuable analytics data to be tracked.

A quick post about the current Google Webmaster Tools data update problem.
Are you worried because Google Webmaster Tools daily impression and click data hasn’t refreshed since the 7th or 8th of February 2015?  Well don't fret.. ..the problem applies to everyone and Google is working on a fix.

Squarespace recently discontinued 4 templates - Boutique, Dovetail, Frontrow & Peak.

Check out our searchable ‪Squarespace template list.
Each Squarespace template has a templateID in its source code. We list the IDs for the currently selectable templates and tell you how to seek inspiration by searching the web for IDs.

Installing Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools is an essential first step in preparing to build traffic to your +Squarespace website.
Whether you have a new or a long established Squarespace website there’s a little groundwork you should undertake before embarking on a traffic building campaign.

If images from your Squarespace gallery pages (not standalone images or gallery blocks) seem to be missing from Google Images this utility can help.
The Squarespace gallery image fix utility version makes it possible for Squarespace site owners to easily generate <NOSCRIPT>..</NOSCRIPT> code for inclusion in their Squarespace websites. This is a fix for code omissions that prevent gallery images from being indexed by Google.

I've just rewritten one of the most popular code examples in the   #Squarespace  Tips section of my website.
Here's a concise solution for creating hide/show text in Squarespace pages, using a Markdown Block and a jQuery script.

My wife and I dined at the Clarendon yesterday evening. We had an early table - 7pm - so when we arrived the place was pretty quiet. The place is very well maintained from a decor point of view. It also has an outdoor smoker's area that is more like a small building, complete with a massive log burning fire place - my wife and I aren't smokers but we went out there for a post meal nightcap. The meal itself was ok to good. The softshell crab starter was pretty boring and overly dry. The mains (duck for my wife, belly pork confit for me) were both very good. Cheese board had some nice choices on it and the wine (cheapest on the list at £18 a bottle) was very pleasant. As our meal progressed the room got louder and louder due to diners having drinks at the bar prior to their tables being ready. This got so loud that it began to annoy me. The service was very good - our waitress was friendly and everything was served promptly and accurately. I would eat here again, but perhaps on a week night when the noise at the bar would be less likely to drown out conversation.
