Behind the Lens: The Power of Gullfoss

The Gullfoss waterfall in Iceland is one of those iconic locations that you kind of have to see for yourself. It is almost like visiting India and not taking a few minutes to stop by Agra and see the Taj Mahal. The sheer magnitude of the amount of water flowing through Gullfoss is astounding...and something you can hear and literally feel when standing on one of the ledges.

This photo was taken with my Galaxy Nexus cell phone as +Ken Kaminesky +Patrick Di Fruscia and myself arrived at the waterfall in mid day and in generally poor light. We ended up shooting sunset in the general area, which offered an array of photographic opportunities as light danced across the sky.

If you look closely you can see people lining up along one of the ridges, giving you a sense of perspective for how massive this waterfall truly is.

While not all of the behind the scenes images from my adventures make it to Google+, Facebook or Twitter, you can check out my Tumblr page which will contain them all: http://bit.ly/JGp1sd
