"Showing a Sense of Scale"
Vik, Iceland

When photographing landscapes it can sometimes be challenging to show the true size and scope of a location. To get around this you can try to include a human element I to your shot. In this image from the beach at Vik, Iceland you can see +Lauren Bath setting up for a shot. By brining her into the frame, you get a sense of scale of just how big the mountain walls are at this location.

This image was taken with a +Sony a6000 mirrorless camera, which I reviewed last week. This powerful, portable and affordable ($600) camera is pretty impressive and offers a great experience for those new to the mirrorless camera world. Check out the full review below...

"Iceberg Sunset Glow"
Jokulsarlon, Iceland

When it comes to natures ebb and flow of glacier recession and growth each year, I am always amazed and impressed at the intricate patterns, designs and textures that can be found in ice. Every time I visit Iceland I never know what to expect. It is one of the reasons I keep going back. While the locations I often visit are familiar, my experience is different each and every time...always having new things to photograph.

"Hiking Through The Ramparts"

http://bit.ly/SonyA6000Review

One of my favorite mountain ranges in the world can be found in the Canadian Rockies. The sheer beauty of the peaks found in this region of the world is incredible. Here you can see "The Ramparts" which is part of Jasper National Park.

Yesterday I finally posted my full in-depth review of the +Sony a6000 mirrorless camera. While it has been out for a year, this powerful, portable and affordable ($600) camera is pretty impressive and offers a great experience for those new to the mirrorless camera world. +Roberto Taylor me too! I bought my wife the a6000 and I use it all the time over my 5D mark ii. The only big complaint I have is don't buy it with the kit lense. It's nice but does not do it justice.

Frozen Waterfall
Himalayas, Nepal

In the heart of the Khumbu region of the Himalayas of Nepal (home to Mt. Everest) there are hundreds of trails and paths that lead all throughout the worlds largest mountain range. This particular frozen waterfall was found at 18,000ft while hiking up through the high pass between the villages of Chuckkung and La Bosche. It takes a grueling 8 hours to cross this high pass but the views are incredible!

"Ebb & Flow of Nature"
Kirkjufellsfoss Waterfall, West Iceland

When it comes to landscape photography, I am always looking for interesting compositions. This can involve leading lines, foreground elements, symmetry (or the lack there of) and so much more. With this image of the Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall in West Iceland, I decided to take a different approach that the standard shot, which is from a much low angle about 100 ft to the right of where I was standing. By getting on top of the waterfall and shooting slightly downward, I was able to include a variety of compositional techniques into a single image. See if you can point them out.

"Icelandic Reflections"
Southern Iceland

One of the most interesting things to photograph in Iceland happen to be the ever moving and changing glaciers, which are highly accessible in the south of Iceland. With a number of glacial lagoons dotting the landscape, many visitors are created with this intimate & unique experience of watching icebergs form and be destroyed by the water.

"Endangered Green Sea Turtle"

One of my favorite things to photograph when visiting Hawaii is the beautiful Green Sea Turtle that frequents the shores along many of the islands. This image was photographed just north of Kona along a nice stretch of beach. It was however taken with a telephoto lens as you aren't legally allowed to get within 10ft of these peaceful creatures.

+Somnath Chowdhury In the West we do not hunt turtles for food or medicines! In Asia it is common. You clearly know nothing about the conservation measures done in the West for both land and sea tortoises. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=tortoise%20conservation
Yes, and STOP being so arrogant. You clearly know nothing about this!

As a photographer it is important to learn how to be prepared for anything when out in the field. Here are a few quick lessons I learned from my travels to SE Asia over the years. Enjoy & Share!
Anticipating the Moment. Written by: Colby Brown As a photographer it is our job to capture the world around us. For some of us that involves working in a studio with flashes and models, for others it means traveling around the world and working with whatever light we are given. Regardless of our field of expertise (or passion), it is always good to...

http://bit.ly/On1PerfectSuite

Just a heads up. +on1 is about to release the new 9.5 version of their Perfect Photo Suite of plugins/stand alone apps with a bunch of new features. I have been using this version for a few weeks and have been very excited with the direction onOne is headed with these editing tools. If you own Perfect Suite 9, this will be a free upgrade.

New Features:
- Perfect Browse is now faster and smoother (much faster than LR)
- Perfect Browse now supports "Albums" for better organization
- Pefect Portrait is faster and has made improvements to eyes and mouth adjustments
- New line masking tool

and the biggest new feature...luminosity masking. If you are an advanced Photoshop user, you know how important luminosity masks are to creatively editing your images.
