This evening, I had the opportunity to see "The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl" creator Issa Rae, in conversation with professor, historian and The New Yorker contributor, Jelani Cobb. Issa was funny, engaging, and dropped some really worthwhile gems about being a person of color navigating the politics of the entertainment industry, eschewing the restrictions of Black respectability, and her commitment to creating work and cultivating representation people can be proud of.
Great discussion.
