We don't know who first said this quote, but it was put on paper by Russ Olsen in his book Eloquent Ruby.

"Random numbers should not be generated with a method chosen at random"
This quote, from the volume II of The Art of Computer Programming, was written by Donald Knuth, who is considered the father of the analysis of algorithms. Even though his study subject is computer programming, his interest in human words is evident: not only he is a prolific writer, but he also invented the TeX typesetting system and he's the co-author of the Knuth–Morris–Pratt string searching algorithm.

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication"

495 years ago the world lost a genius. The quote we chose for May is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci.

Most known as a painter, for his works such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, he also used his drawing skills to advanced science and engineering, as seen in the Vitruvian Man and his models of many inventions.

"One accurate measurement is worth a thousand expert opinions"

The quote featured in our first month is from Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (1906 ~ 1992).

She was a pioneer in the Computer Science field, best known for popularizing the term "debug", inspired by an actual moth removed from a computer.

Her technical contributions are also remarkable: she wrote the first compiler and had a key role in the development of the COBOL language.
