Michigan's capital area is home to some of the best and brightest PR talent in the country. This year, local firms have been recognized at both the local and national level. Don't miss the opportunity to hear from the winners and learn the behind-the-scenes details of what made these campaigns a success.

The 2013 CMPRSA PACE Awards "Best in Show" was awarded to Pace for its outstanding efforts on a community relations campaign for the United Way merger of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo regions. Mike Nowlin of Pace will share the tactics that led to this successful campaign.
Martin Waymire Advocacy Communications was recognized by PRSA with the Silver Anvil for Public Affairs Excellence for its work on the campaign to defeat Proposal 5, the proposed "Super Minority" constitutional amendment on Michigan's November 2012 statewide ballot. Roger Martin of Martin Waymire will provide details on how Defend Michigan's Democracy completely reversed the polls securing the largest margin of any of the questions or candidates on the statewide ballot.

For decades, +Michigan State University researchers have been crossing disciplines, cultures, and continents to advance the common good in uncommon ways. Now, in a President's Report unlike any other, MSU will take Spartans, friends and colleagues on an adventure-around the world and on the scene-to see first-hand the indispensable work of MSU scientists, scholars and students.
On Jan. 7, the SPARTANS WILL. 360 site launched, allowing audiences to follow-via tablet, mobile phone or laptop-the members of the SPARTANS WILL. 360 crew as they began traversing four continents to visit more than 10 sites from East Lansing to East Africa. They'll stop in fields, hospitals and universities, in locations from rural villages to populous cities-where MSU faculty, staff and students are working with individuals, fellow universities, corporations, communities and countries to enhance quality of life, create opportunity and solve some of the toughest problems of our time.
The 360 crew will capture the story of MSU's activity and impact in each location through video, photos and blogs and share this material via social media, email and the SPARTANS WILL. 360 site where the content will be posted in a time-sequenced fashion as the trip progresses. The crew also will share its experiences and perspectives from the field throughout the trip.
It's a big trip, but it represents just a tiny fraction of the exceptional work MSU does each and every year in Michigan and around the world. This work creates new knowledge and discovery that ultimately make Michigan and the United States more competitive, forging partnerships and relationships that increase the security of the nation and quality of life for people all around the globe.
