The South African government needs to stop running away from dealing with xenophobia, and it must also stop unnecessarily accommodating foreign nationals, said President Jacob Zuma's son on Tuesday.

Edward Zuma, who recently expressed his anti-foreigner sentiments, told News24 that he may be the president’s son but his opinions were independent to those of the president.

Sasol Mozambique was closed for the day yesterday. The governor of Inhambane, Agostinho Trinta, was trying to appeal for calm, but was ignored. South Africans were not working and some are returning to South Africa for fear of xenophobic retaliation, reports Canalmoz this morning.
