It seems Google hates intrusive ad pop-ups as much as we do.

In particular are those which interrupt the user's experience by completely covering the content on a mobile screen (which is really bad practice/lazy coding anyway) or force the user to have to interact in some before they can continue to read the content.

They're known as 'interstitials' which take the form of ads, sign-up forms or feedback requests etc. but their days are numbered.

Google's determination to continually improve user experience is to be applauded and, in typical style, is waging war on the those who fall foul of the new guidelines.

The way we buy products and services has changed enormously (as witnessed by the underwhelming high street presence whilst people bought online instead of in shops on Black Friday) so business owners will need to change their thinking accordingly.

Ongoing research by Google raises some very interesting points and this article will give some insight into what you can do.
