Trying to get back into the swing of things...
Holy hot damned pancakes it's been a flipping long time...  I think I went full on A.D.D. with electronics for a while.  I tried building an 8x8x8 LED cube with a friend and never finished it.  I still have an illogical, but undying hate for 8 bit shift reg...

Clawing my way out of the hole I've dug for myself
So......   Ummm.... Yeah. So you know things aren't going all that great personally when you throw yourself into your work and don't do much of anything else.  Eventually though it either kills you or you find a way to turn that corner and get back to the t...

8x8x8 LED cube
It's been quite a while since I've updated this page.  I've had a lot of stuff going on for the past three years and sadly very little of it involved building electronics.  I might get into that on some other post, but right now I'm just posting to let you ...

Still a little spendy for some of my projects, but it's still a great hack to drop the price of LIDAR

This is awesome, I found your post off of Hack-a-Day and was just talking to my sisters about something similar during Thanksgiving (we all live in Juneau).  Been playing with Arduino's for the past three years and this sounds fairly straightforward for me.  If I end up trying this out I'll defenitly repost here and let you know how it went for me.

Thanks for the write up on this and looking forward to seeing how you tackle a Furnace Audit.

My problem with arduino's is the more you learn the bigger your ideas get... currently working on trying to get a built from scratch RepRap Prusa 3D printer working off of an Arduino MEGA 2560 with a driver board and it's been taking up what little free time I have.  Then there's the whole software defined radio hacks I've been reading about for the past year that has piqued my interest.  The rabbit hole of arduino electronics runs deep.

I use Google Reader because it was one of the best RSS readers out there... now it looks like I gotta find a replacement... any suggestions or is RSS basically dead at this point too?
