Sisters Love Painting, Instructions and Supply.

Painting of two sisters sharing their love with red poppies. From the collection of the Colonial People of North Carolina.

Instructions:

1. Start by drawing the sisters and landscape.
2. Give a soft coat of acrylic gold to the canvas. Gold is very good for under-painting, it creates a worm color that once you put the oils or acrylics in the top, they look brighter.
3. Next paint landscape, starting with the sky, grass, house, trees and finally red poppies. You can do it with oil paintings or acrylics.
4. Sign your work of art.

Supply:

Acrylics: There are many brands of acrylic paintings that I have tested but the one that I like the most is: SOHO, Urban Artistic Acrylic: Excellent paintings, sold at more reasonable price by Jerry's Arterama. 3060 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. (919) 876-6610.

Oil Paintings: You can buy them at Michael's, ACMoore, but again the most affordable ones are at Jerry's Arterama and their brand is LUKAS.

Canvas: 16"x20"

Colors:

1. Titanium White
2. Flesh, Portrait Pink or Pale Pink
3. Cadmium Red Medium
4. Cadmium Red Light
5. Alizarin Crimson
6. Cadmium Yellow Light
7. Yellow Ochre
8. Gold
9. Raw Sienna
10. Burnt Sienna
11. Van Dyck Brown
12. Cerulean Blue
13. Ultramarine Blue
14. Sap Green
15. Dioxazine Purple
16. Ivory Black

Brushes, multi-purpose, polyvalent. There is a 10pc "Artist's Loft" that provides most of the brushes for the beginning or the Pro Stroke-Power Creative Mark of Jerry's Arterama.
For Oil paintings, the best media is Refined Linseed Oil with Refined Turpentine. To clean the brushes Turpernoi. Glass container to mix media.
Brown and black fine point Sharpie.
Easel (a simple table metal easel is fine).
Paper towel.
Plastic plate to mix colors or a Paper Palette. SOHO has a very reasonable paper palette at Jerry's Arterama.

I did this painting on a beautiful spring day. Inspired by an angel surrounded by purple irises, sweet hopes of warm days to come!

Instructions:

1. Start by drawing the angel and irises.
2. In this painting is easer to do the under-paint and background with acrylics because they dry faster. The acrylic colors are: Titanium White, Gold, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Yellow Medium and Cadmium Orange.
3. Next paint angel, irises and leaves. You can do it with oil paintings or acrylics.
4. Sign your work of art.

Supply:

Comice Green Pear, Instructions and Supply.

This painting was created for the painting classes, is a simple and charming painting of a Comice pear. They are among the sweetest and juiciest of all varieties of pears, and are a favorite in holiday gift boxes and baskets.

Instructions:

1. Start by drawing the pear, thinking about light and shade.
2. In this painting I did an under-paint of Yellow Ochre and Gold with acrylics because they dry faster. The under paint is very important because you are continuing to draw with colors and defining light and shade in your final painting.
3. Paint the background first.
4. Enjoy doing your final painting. In this case I use oils because I love their bright colors and blending.

Supply:
This painting can be done in 2 medias, Oil Paintings or Acrylics.

Acrylics:
There are many brands of acrylic paintings that I have tested but the one that I like the most is:
SOHO, Urban Artistic Acrylic: Excellent paintings, sold at more reasonable price by Jerry's Arterama. 3060 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. (919) 876-6610

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2016.

To all our dear friends and family,

We are very thankful for all the good things that God have given us in this year of 2016:

The family is in good health and the grand children are growing happy in their young lives.

I went to Chile in September to spent some time with my mother, she is stable and doing well with the dedicated care of the nurses. Also visited family and friends enjoying time together.

The studio and house are finished with a warm inauguration of family and friends. We have had many gatherings, either cooking outside or inside with American and a variety of international food.

Finally the family, friends and students have a place to get together, to paint and share good times together, overwhelm with creativity and inspirational ideas. Also the paintings are displayed in the studio. I have participated in different exhibitions including the Tar River Festival, Franklin County Art Council, Renaissance Centre in Wake Forest and Christmas Art Show at The Civic Gallery of the Wesleyan Dunn Center.

On July 29 2016, I became an American Citizen. With the support of Thom, the Naturalization Oath Ceremony was very emotional, I am so proud to be an American Citizen!!!

The painting in the Christmas card is the "The Nativity" by Deb Allen.

This Christmas card is dedicated to the memory of Deb Allen, a mother, grandmother and an excellent artist. Her art and love will remain in our family as a treasure for every body to appreciate and enjoy.

We wish you love, happiness and health together with your family on this beautiful Christmas.

Thomas Allen and Clina Polloni Allen

Casa de Paja, a straw farm house painting in Chile by Clina Polloni.

In the early years of Chile, even in the 1800’s, farmers planted their wheat in the fields. This was one of their most important source of food. They baked their bread in an open fire, prepared mote con huesillos and other culinary dishes. And when the harvest was all over, they built their thatched houses with straw.

I did this painting from a sketch that my great grandfather, Antonio Polloni did when traveling and painting the country side of Chile in the 1800’s.

Oil on Canvas - 36”x30”
