King room on 7th floor was clean. Water pressure was more than adequate. The general staff was courteous but the concierge was amazing. Especially Sam. I wish I could remember his last name because he deserves (not to be mistaken with any other Sam) the highest of praise. Excellent. The breakfast was delicious. The bar scene at night exuded class and sophistication wrapped around great music and fun. The only downside was not having the option to eat dinner there; however, the staff offered up the best of recommendations and booking of reservations for us elsewhere. Highly recommend. Can't wait to go back with or without our friends from France and friends from other parts of the U.S. -Jaime

A very old building. But it does have some architectural features built into it that I know of from working for the engineers in the eighties. And it was a very upscale hotel when the Four Seasons ran it. But probably why they pulled out the Four Seasons, because the building is just so old! And part of its charm. It has a history and that's what you're experiencing when you stay there. The staff is well trained!

My husband and I go to S F quite often, we like to find different hotels when we go. We have love everyone we have stayed at. This hotel was quite fascinating, It was dark and the décor was amazing... (although animal lovers may approve of the tusk couch and other animal parts. I likes the lights that are planted in the floor, your hallways were twice the size of any hotel I've seen. We took a walk into the bar which was so beautiful, the bar itself was a master piece. The only thing that bothers me is, No coffee in the room, and the bathroom was really small,.Also we always ask for a window facing the street, as we love to see all the lights at night, they tell us ok, and we seem to always get a room facing the back of a building. All in All it was a very beautiful hotel, Also they need to put a Large sign in front of building as we passed it twice, and we heard other saying the same thing. Very Very nice place, we would stay again, but we need to ckeck out other hotels, as there are so many to choose from.

I give it 3 stars because it is a 3 star hotel trying to disguise itself as a 4 star hotel. The lobby is hip, cool, swanky and give you an essence of Gwen Stefani in LA. The staff are polite and efficient. All great, that is until you reach your room. The bathroom faucets look like somthing out of a motel 6. The soap tray in the shower literally looks like an ashtray from a public bathroom. Their is a key to the mini which they give you at check in. I found this peculiar but so be it. Then looking at the "studio" rooms living area you can't quite imagine how small the standard rooms must look. I have to say don't bother upgrading. The bed is comfortable which might be all your looking for with polite, efficient staff but for those of us trying to find a clean second home away from home feel (especially in this price bracket 400 range) your money would be better spent around the W hotel or similar

My husband and I stayed at the Clift for our 20 year anniversary. What a magnificent hotel. Our experience there is one for the history books. Excellent staff, and stunning interiors make this place a must for those visiting San Fran.

Well this is first time here. I must service right off the get go was really good. As soon as we walked in we where greeted and when we got to the counter the desk clerk was really polite and helpful. Took only a few min to get our room set up. Very nice inside great environment.

This hotel would not be well organised. I stayed this hotel at the early of December. When I checked in, I requested the 2-night extension at the front desk. The hotel agreed to stay two more nights. However, due to my tight schedule, I needed to cancel the 2-night extension. So, I requested the cancellation twice, prior to check-out and when I checked out. The hotel persons accepted the cancellation without extra charge. Then, I checked out the hotel. Surprisingly, the hotel charged me the full accommodation fee for the 2-night extension two days ago. I called the hotel, but he said the 2-night extension was not cancelled. So, you need to pay the fee. Oh dear... If I stay at Marriott and Hilton, such a problem may not be happen.

Well intended, but poor service for the price point. Waited too long to drop bags with bellman at check-in, fifteen minute wait to get bags again, poor restaurant advice from front desk, and tired, worn out furniture in lounge. Room is small, sparsely furnished (not in a trendy way) and poorly redone for this price point.
