My husband and I go to S F quite often, we like to find different hotels when we go. We have love everyone we have stayed at. This hotel was quite fascinating, It was dark and the décor was amazing... (although animal lovers may approve of the tusk couch and other animal parts. I likes the lights that are planted in the floor, your hallways were twice the size of any hotel I've seen. We took a walk into the bar which was so beautiful, the bar itself was a master piece. The only thing that bothers me is, No coffee in the room, and the bathroom was really small,.Also we always ask for a window facing the street, as we love to see all the lights at night, they tell us ok, and we seem to always get a room facing the back of a building. All in All it was a very beautiful hotel, Also they need to put a Large sign in front of building as we passed it twice, and we heard other saying the same thing. Very Very nice place, we would stay again, but we need to ckeck out other hotels, as there are so many to choose from.

You've got to be kidding. Dark, Dark, worn. The only thing going for this hotel is the location for financial district. Our room had 7 lights in it. 3 did not work and 4 had 25 watt bulbs in them. I could not work effectively. Bath tub porcelain was missing in 2 large places. Shower area grouting was moldy in several places. Faucet dripped. Furniture was chipped, cracked and cushions with no cushion. It was like sitting on plywood. Foyer or lobby area was better, but still DARK. I inquired WHY and they said to imitate a bar atmosphere. REALLY? If I want a bar, I'll go to one. I want to come to a room and relax on comfortable, clean, nice furniture and shower where I don't have to worry about touching everything

An interesting hotel lobby for sure! I hit their gym with a friend who was staying there. The facility was really clean and I was impressed with their selection of weights and cardio machines. I wish they had a pool onsite but that's ok. The staff was really nice and they provide a shuttle to SFO which is great since my friend had to catch an early flight.

I give it 3 stars because it is a 3 star hotel trying to disguise itself as a 4 star hotel. The lobby is hip, cool, swanky and give you an essence of Gwen Stefani in LA. The staff are polite and efficient. All great, that is until you reach your room. The bathroom faucets look like somthing out of a motel 6. The soap tray in the shower literally looks like an ashtray from a public bathroom. Their is a key to the mini which they give you at check in. I found this peculiar but so be it. Then looking at the "studio" rooms living area you can't quite imagine how small the standard rooms must look. I have to say don't bother upgrading. The bed is comfortable which might be all your looking for with polite, efficient staff but for those of us trying to find a clean second home away from home feel (especially in this price bracket 400 range) your money would be better spent around the W hotel or similar

My wife and I spent a night at the Clift at the beginning of our anniversary vacation. We had honeymooned in San Francisco years ago and felt it was time to revisit. Unfortunately our stay was significantly worse than that of our honeymoon at the Parc 55. During our stay at the Clift we were unhappy with: The fact that there were curtains everywhere and the atmosphere was "dark" felt very creepy, almost like we were part of a drug exchange or trafficking situation. The infinite mirrors in the rooms were also creepy, and my wife kept feeling like there were people watching from the other side (as if it were one way glass). Obviously that's not the case, but it is how we felt generally about the hotel. The walls seemed very thin, as we could hear full conversations in the hallway and from our neighbors. The lighting in the room was dim and not easily accessible. Upon entering the room for the first time it took us a few minutes to discover how the lights could be turned on. The bathroom was miniature, and in my opinion, unacceptable. The shower tub used a stopper that spins around, and seemed to randomly plug itself and cause the water to drain slowly. My shower in the morning had me standing in 4 inches of water. The water pressure in the shower was way too high. It felt uncomfortable and spayed water everywhere. Upon exiting the shower the floor mat was drenched. The sink also drained slowly, and is unpleasant to watch after brushing my teeth, for instance. The automated checkout system via the TV was not operational. Upon checkout the front desk lady asked how my stay was, I said "not great", and she didn't inquire further. Things we enjoyed about our stay include: comfortable bed, most decor, good temperature. But given the list of issue above, I am very unhappy with my stay. I am happy to pay for staying at a hotel, but this was a 1 star experience at a much higher price. I emailed the above to the manager, and here is the response: Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback about your stay and I am sorry that your experience fell short of your expectations. Our Hotel is very unique in design and the curtains and mood lighting are very much a part of our design concept. We understand that not everyone enjoys the same taste in décor, which is why we developed 2 different concepts between our Lobby and Rooms. The guest corridors and rooms are lighter in color to provide a juxtaposition to the Lobby and Bar. The mirrors that we have throughout our guest rooms and corridors are also a large part of our design concept. You, the guest, become the artwork for the hotel. I appreciate your feedback and am sorry that our look was not to your liking. I am truly sorry for the issues you experienced with the room itself. The bathtub and sink not draining is not our typical level of service and is something we can have fixed immediately with an engineer that is available 24 hours a day. Most of the issue you have expressed in this e-mail are a matter of personal taste rather than service failures on the part of the Hotel. For the issues that were controllable by the hotel, such as the water issues, I would be happy to offer you a complimentary upgrade on a future stay to one of our luxury suites. Please contact me directly for your next reservation so that I can offer a discounted rate and a wonderful upgrade for your stay. ... yeah, I won't be returning...

The inside walls of this bar are made from one red wood tree! This in itself is worth going, because one thing I would not go for is the price of drinks! Outrageous! One of my friend's drink cost $32. My glass of wine was $15. I'd take a look for sure, though. It's a beautiful room and entry way. Even the bathrooms are stunning.

Highly recommended. Fun decor throughout, great location (just don't turn left out the front door if you want to avoid the tenderloin). Super friendly staff, clean rooms and great service.
