I'm curious about who were the malcontents on last year's team that are now gone. Any guesses? Here's a list of who left this winter:
Oakland has been busy this winter. Here it all is in one big offseason roundup!

I wonder if some of it originated  when Cespedes got traded the year before.

Phew. I was hoping this would happen.
A’s fans have clamored for Barry Zito since rosters expanded at the start of the month, and finally they get their wish. A week after saying that the A’s did not plan to bring up the 2002 Cy Young winner, the team — decimated by pitching injuries, including one to Wednesday’s scheduled starter, Jesse Chavez — called up Zito from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. Assistant general manager David Forst said that the promotion strictly was based on ...

I think he would have been called up earlier except he went on the DL just at the wrong time.

Kind of related. Moss gets traded again.
Brandon Moss was sorry to see close friend David Murphy traded earlier this week by the Indians. Moss was dealt Thursday to the St. Louis Cardinals, who were in the market for an outfielder after seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday re-injured his right quadriceps on Wednesday. In exchange for Moss, who was in his first season with the Indians, the Indians received minor league pitcher Rob Kaminsky, a first-round pick in 2013.

Who was the last A's pitcher caught using a foreign substance on a ball? I had thought Kenny Rogers, but he was with Detroit when he got caught.
Two pitchers got suspended in the past week for applying foreign substances to the baseball, igniting the latest debate of Rule 8.02. Though it’s considered widespread, managers don’t like calling out opposing pitchers because so many of their own do the same thing. Former A’s pitcher Dallas Braden went as far as saying his old team had an “application station” in spring training. “Here, we tried to gain an advantage or at least put ourselves ...

Not panicking. But I thought our problem would be scoring runs, not pitching. So far, the A's are tied for 2nd in runs scored and 21st in ERA.

Watching Kazmir and Donaldson and Addison Russell and other former A's play in postseason games is crazy-making.

Wow. is this because of the base running problems yesterday?
“The A’s have named Ron Washington third base coach for the remainder of the season. Mike Gallego has been relieved of his duties.”

Like that is going to make a difference, I liked Mike... Also like Wash so I'm not against the move necessarily but the timing is odd.

I miss him seeing him pitch, especially the pace of the game when he is on the mound.
At 42, and 100 pounds heavier than when he began pitching in the major leagues 213 wins ago, Bartolo Colon continues to confound.

I wish we would have given him the contract that he wanted.
