Looks handy for quick scripts.
Python Fire, a new tool open-sourced by the Google Brain team, generates command line interfaces for existing Python codebases.

So I've not done a lot of thorough Android coding recently and wanted to dive again into "good coding style" and the popular MVP pattern, RxJava and the likes. I randomly found this series and it's awesome. The "newbie talks with expert" slows down the expert really much as the "stupid questions" are going to get asked. This is what makes it SO nice to actually learn something, although you sometimes have to fast-forward a bit ;)

gotta get used to it, but it's really damn fast (on my Pixel XL with shittons of apps installed)
I'm delighted to announce the first public release of Peek Launcher, an app I've been working on together with +Pol Kuijken for a while now.

Peek Launcher is an Android home screen built from scratch with a strong focus on speed and productivity. Very often I found myself searching for an app in the app drawer. E.g is the app called "Google Photos" or just "Photos"? You end up scrolling down and up to find the correct app.

With Peek Launcher we try to understand your current context and automatically suggest the right app for you on the homescreen. No need to search! If this fails you can still use the on-screen T9 keyboard to quickly find the app you're looking for.

Please give it a try and let me know what you think!

Good and needed news.
Google Assistant on Android TV, Android Wear 2.0, and more
+Sundar Pichai talked about how important the Assistant was back when the Pixel phones was announced. Expanding the Google Assistant to Android TV and Android Wear 2.0 devices is a natural extension of that plan.

Thankfully, the Assistant team is well aware that the best Assistant that works the same everywhere: really excited to get to that point.

Good read on how some simple&quick changes (which might not be intuitive to an app developer) can grately improve install rates.

Announcing updates to Google’s Internet of Things platform: Android Things and Weave

Today we are announcing a full range of solutions to make it easier to build secure smart devices and get them connected. We are releasing a Developer Preview of Android Things, an operating system for connected devices that has the support and scale of existing Android developer infrastructure. You can now develop IoT software using Android Studio and the Android SDK. We are also updating the Weave platform to provide an easy way to add cloud connectivity and management to devices, and enable access to Google services like the Google Assistant and many more over time.

Learn more about Google’s IoT platform from our blog post at https://goo.gl/eENGtu, and join our new Google+ community at https://g.co/iotdev.

Yessssssssss!
Google is opening up Assistant :))) (as promised a few months ago). With Actions they just launched the official developer platform for Google Assistant. Will be interesting to see what devs will do with all those possibilities. Right now this is only for Assistant on Google Home, Pixel and Allo versions will follow later according to Google.
