As a constant consumer of both print and electronic media, I find myself, when consuming in "analog", wishing I had a less arduous way of jumping to "digital" when emailing it to a friend, linking in facebook, twitter, or G+, or opining in the comments section.
And with unique codes in its varying print editions, publishers could extract demographic usage data more accurately and efficiently.
