Reading a financial blog piece I read the following quote which is awesome:

"In other words, if you can make it through the first 10 years [of retirement] without severely depleting your portfolio or inflation going out of control, your portfolio is likely to enter Too Big to Fail territory.  I’ve never heard better news, because I’ve always wanted to be a Bank"

This fascinating new video made for English Heritage shows how Greater #London has grown over the space of almost 2000 years.
The video focuses on roads and settlements and also shows where listed buildings are around the city. http://www.london24.com/entertainment/around-the-web/video_shows_how_london_evolved_since_410_ad_1_3593199

If you don’t know anything about how London came together, now might be time for a fun history lesson.

Erm, YAY! Spider-man should have been under Marvel's control all along. It's good to see that they'll finally be able to bring him into the grand story arch.

Sony has one of the greatest comic book superheroes of all time, and it was screwing everything up. Last year's Amazing Spider-Man 2 wasn't a box office disaster, but it made notably less money...

Personally I was enjoying the new take delving into his parent's past and hints about genetic changes in Peter before he was bitten by a spider.  Or perhaps linking the genetic changes that had been made to the spiders to his bloodline. I would like them to finish that story line.

Toward the end of last year +Fridrikr Tomasson asked me if I would create a piece for his apprentice who was to be elevated to the Order of the Laurel. It was my pleasure to say yes.

This past weekend Oðindísa Býkona was elevated at the Seven Deadly Sins event in Aethelmearc.

I'm not completely happy with the coverage of the verdigris because of the brush marks. I could see them in the original and wanted to emulate but I feel like I should have gone for the more polished look.

Spreading the word. Time to keep an eye on things. Again.

"Anthem insures about 37.5 million people and offers plans such as Blue Cross Blue Shield..."

I saw something on this yesterday but hadn't seen words from Anthem yet.  The hackers have my family coming and going:  we're in Anthem's legacy system under our old East Coast insurance as well as in their current system with our West Coast insurance.

A couple of weeks ago at Mudthaw one of our local fencers, Baron Therion Sean Storie, was inducted as a member of the Order of the Silver Rapier. This is the piece that I made for him.

I've wanted to use this source for a very long time; with his annual tournament at War of the Roses I felt this was finally the opportunity.

This past weekend I was reminded that I still hadn't posted about he piece I did for +Molly Eskridge when elevated to the Order of the Laurel two weeks ago.

I worked closely with +Myra Hope Eskridge in the hopes that we could achieve something that Dreda would love.

Ah.  Certainly can't complain about that.  It isn't like I've never gotten to the end of a feast and said "what is this bowl of egg yolks supposed to have gone in to?"  2 dozen separated eggs, completely forgotten.

This might be of interest to a number of folks; a thesis from 1968.

This thesis comprises a study of all the records of the archbishop and chapter of Canterbury that purport to belong to the period before the Norman Conquest.

Introduction
My fingers are in many different pots which makes my interests very diverse...

I'm an active member of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) where I participate in all sorts of historical activities, including fencing, calligraphy and illumination. I dabble in lots of other crafts too, like cooking, tailoring, fiber-arts...

I love to read books on medieval English history (thanks mum) and historical fiction is a guilty pleasure. And then there's the good old fall-back of sci-fi / fantasy.

I've traveled a decent amount and visited some amazing places but I'm also very much a couch potato.

I spent many years working as a scuba diving instructor and miss the underwater world.

I love photography but don't get out and take as many photo's as I would like.

I'm a P90X grad. Currently my LOVE is bouldering at the local rock gym, ropes are pretty cool too.

I'm surprised that Peaches Cafe gets such an average review. My experiences have always been during the lunchtime rush-hour when they are super busy and the tables are always full. I've never had to wait more than about five minutes and the wait-staff are busy but pleasant. The food is always good with some very flavourful tastes and good sized portions.

What a wonderful experience. The lady that assisted me was incredible, listening to what I liked, measuring me efficiently and then producing a continual stream of bra's that fit the bill. I wholeheartedly recommend Madame Pirie's to everyone.

Expect a laid-back and casual dining experience, this is not the place if you need a quick in-and-out lunch. The lunch menu is light and tasty with a Mediterranean influence, while the wait-staff are friendly and attentive without being annoying. And the gelato is wonderful.
