Borrowing or Piggybacking on Other Brands' Marketing ... Good Idea or Bad Idea?

received this in an email and noticed something right away. Note that this brand is "borrowing" from Geico's recent success with the "Hump Day" commercial. We all got a big chuckle out of it, but it is an interesting and potentially problematic tactic.
1) Some won't get it because they have not seen, or don't recall the reference.
2) They are inviting the client to associate their brand with positive or negative connotations of the commercial, and the other brand.
3) There may be negative feelings of using another brands idea.
By and large, we think it works here. What do you think? #marketing
