In the midst of the breathless enthusiasm about the upcoming Apple Watch launch, I've fallen into the trough of disillusionment.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/chunkamui/2015/03/07/the-apple-watchs-disappointing-slide-from-health-care-killer-app-to-gold-plated-bauble/
Is Apple’s fashion pivot more about short-term expediency than long-term strategy? Let's hope it finds a higher "moral purpose."

More fun-filled speculation in my latest piece at +Forbes  into what driverless cars might mean for +Uber :

http://www.forbes.com/sites/chunkamui/2015/02/06/drone-taxis-will-spark-ubers-kodak-moment/

+Google Self-Driving Car Project  might want to steer clear of that dangerous intersection!

Regards,
Chunka

.
Will Uber drivers accept a Drone option on the Uber app? No. By that time, Uber will no longer be a feisty startup but, instead, find itself in much the same position that Kodak found itself with digital photography.

Where do you search for killer apps?  Conventional wisdom and most business theorist point you towards "Blue Oceans."  That's not where 80% of the billionaires studied in a new book made their fortunes.
Conventional wisdom is that blockbuster innovations are most likely found in new product categories. Business celebrities like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg—three college dropouts who made billions with stunning innovations that ignited whole new industries—reinforce this perception. This conventional wisdom is even codified in business theory. In the multi-million-copy bestseller, “Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Marke...

Both Google and Uber lose, though to different degrees. But, Uber loses more. The biggest winners are traditional automakers, Uber’s competitors and, hopefully, society at large.

What if Mark Zuckerberg spent $2.3B building Facebook PARC instead of buying Oculus VR?  He can still do both. My latest at Forbes.

What if Mark Zuckerberg invested $2.3B on Facebook PARC instead of buying Oculus VR? It is not too late to do both.

Oh, I completely agree. Far better to invent your future than hope to discover it. But it is interesting that oft times, the innovator isn't the first to benefit from their own creation, or in many cases, to see its possibilities. Which to me is all the more reason to innovate - you never know where your next big thing is, so you keep on looking.

Here's why Mary Barra needs to embrace the biggest technological disruption that she will face in her tenure as General Motors’ CEO: driverless cars.
