I spend too much time on Twitter. Social networks can given one the feeling that they are interacting with people, that they have friends, aren't alone, although the connectedness may be largely an illusion.

When you've narrowed your focus to one site, like Twitter, and you decide you need to escape, you realize that you have no other place to post and feel like you have an audience, and nowhere you feel like you are seeing comments from people you feel like you know.

Looking here I see posts from people I put in circles years ago but have no idea who are and they can't have any idea who I am,  no sense of connectedness.

I have encountered similar feelings when I left facebook or simply shut tumblr.  It is interesting the level of impact it can have on you to not have that constant stimulation.

I like comedy and music, so Bo Burnham has two points in his favor from the start.

The horrible sliding text is so cheap, so overdone, it's like a parody. Hard to believe this is real video and not a mockery of a video. They certainly need to get a new video maker.

Is it possible to get Nimoy spelled correctly, not "Nemoy"?

Thank goodness I don't have to listen to government propaganda music very often.

international corporate propaganda in china is far far more powerful than any government bollocks - people don't take any government propaganda seriously, especially as most of the time they make it in cartoon form and show it on the subway to tired commuters who literally couldn't give any less of a flying frick. advertising of companies like coca cola, pepsi, mars and others is amazingly powerful here - that's the stuff people have to see and hear all the time.

In some graphics programs, as of the last time I used them, which has been a few years now,  to resize proportionally with the mouse requires pressing a modifier key in addition to grabbing a handle and dragging. Graphics #UI designers could reduce size distortion by making the easiest resizing method be proportional, and making distorting things require the additional effort. Also, graphics elements could have a property of "Allow distortion or not", so you could assign things like picture of people or things that are supposed to be perfectly circular or perfectly square, etc.,  a value of "No size distortion allowed".

Another things  designers could do to reduce this problem is have an "Original or designated as correct aspect ratio" for graphics elements so if you find something distorted, as when you see now that you accidentally distorted something, you can easily fix it perfectly with no trouble and no guessing.

I used a program that took the correct, let's make it easy to keep from distorting shapes, and easy to fix size distortion errors, and it was much nicer than having to constantly remember to press Control or Shift or Alt like one has to do in many programs.

Are you sneezing harmful thought germs into the internet atmosphere?
The writer behind the YouTube channel CGP Grey creates videos that teach and explain different ideas and concepts. In fact, his byline is "Complex Things Explained." In this newest video creation, he attempts (and succeeds) to explain one of the hardest concepts of all: why some things go viral on the internet. He does so using the metaphor of "thought germs" and treating these possible viral ideas as "colds." CGP Grey is named after the chann...

That would be the good taste of normal Chinese people and the disconnected of very old Chinese cadres that think this is what the kids are into these days.

Anyone know which Dusty Rhodes this is? There's so many "Dusty Rhodes"es. I'm looking for the Dusty Rhodes of Memphis TV shows in the 60s or so with "the Rhodes Family"  Dusty, Dot, Sandra, Donna, Slim, Speck, etc.

Years ago I took the car in for something. On turning the car on, the Service Engine Soon light came on. It had never come on from when I bought it years before till they worked on it. They gave a massive list of supposedly essential repairs. It came on while still in the parking lot leaving. It's been on off and on since, over ten years. Coincidence? I don't think so. Today I took my car in with a complaint of "Brake Warning Light" on. Paid $400 for rear rotors and pads. Drive away, brake warning light is still on. At this point they report that the warning light is on due to the ABS sensor needing replacement which would cost $1,600 to $1,900. Now I have a car with a warning light on all the time, meaning I get no safety info re low brake fluid, condition of pads. I was not given the information need to make a good decision prior to committing to the repair. I don't feel I have a safe car to drive. I am very unhappy with this result. The counter worker told me the ABS (Anti-Lock) light wasn't on when it was on and the mechanic said it was on and it was on at the time he said it wasn't.

I have been a customer of Dr. Duke for decades and have now been treat by new dentist Dr. Alecia Moore. I've been pleased with service there. The people seem competent, they have their system's act together, and everyone is courteous and polite. The diagnoses seem honest. I'm pretty picky and there are not many place I would give such a good review to.
