A writer in NYC’s East Village, Christopher X. Shade has a novel in agent circulation, Kicking Underwater, in which a New York City reporter travels through Spain and France in pursuit of the story behind his friend’s suicide.
About twenty of Christopher X. Shade’s stories have appeared in national and small press publications; recently Cleaver Magazine, Poydras Review, Arcadia, and Prime Number Magazine. His stories have been read twice at the Top Secret Reading Series in Brooklyn; his cut-up story “Richard’s Lincoln” was read by actor Ted Hannan, and in 2013 a story set in Marseille was read by David Moo. Christopher is a graduate of The New School University’s creative writing program. Christopher was raised in the South and lived for many years in Denver, Colorado, before settling in NYC.
A member of The National Book Critics Circle (NBCC), Christopher’s book reviews have appeared in New Orleans Review and Saint Ann’s Review. His feature “Teeing Up for a Healthy Heart” ran as the cover story for the Diabetes Self-Management Feb-Mar 2011 issue, and for a number of years he was a feature contributor for Golf.com.
Christopher has worked extensively in new media with major brands and for several years at Time Inc. led the business of Golf.com.
