We needed that! Made hard work of it but Lingard's winner was a fairytale ending.

Today is November 11th and I think a lot about my grandfather on my mother's side of the family - Fred Bosworth Abbott. My grandfather was a tank commander in North Africa in World War 2. He was assigned to the 41st and 47th Royal (Oldham) Tank Regiment (T.A.)

What I find most incredible about my grandfather's story is that my grandfather wasn't a solider. He was a factory worker, but when war came to England he found the strength and the courage to put the freedom of others ahead of his own needs.

Unlike so many others, my grandfather came home after the war, but I don't remember him talk once about his experiences. I am sure that he continued to suffer the after effects of war on his return and up to his passing.

Today, when I think of my grandfather, I also think of all service personnel past and present who have or continue to make sacrifices to keep others safe. Side by side, I also take a moment to remember all innocents who have been affected by the devastation of war.
Thank you for your service Grandfather!
