A while back, I noticed an update was being prepared for #TRON 2.0 on Steam. It could certainly use one. There’s currently an issue with the Steam release that causes difficulty getting the game to run for the first time, for some players. (The GOG version of TRON 2.0 doesn’t have this issue, by the way.) But despite being prepared months ago, the Steam update hasn’t been released yet.

Meanwhile, I discovered that an update for the Steam release of TRON Evolution is being prepared now, too. Hopefully this will also fix the issues that almost everyone has with this game, getting it to run for the first time. (It’s far worse than the situation with TRON 2.0.)

Evolution was released in a sloppy state, with Disney doing a very poor job of ripping the content from the Retail DVD version and just dumping it on Steam, almost verbatim. Instead of updating crucial components like GFWL and PhysX to the latest versions, which would have helped avoid all the headaches.

I personally don’t believe GFWL will be removed, which I know many are hoping for. I’d love to be wrong, though.

My suspicion is that both updates will go live, sometime during the Steam Summer 2017 sale. Which starts tomorrow (at the time I’m writing this), June 22, 2017.

P.S. I observed that Disney had snooped the LDSO YouTube channel and watched videos there, recently. They’d never done this before. I wondered why. Now, I know. Or, at least, strongly suspect. It was to find out what issues with the games needed to be fixed.

Well, it’s official. Disney dropped support for the Stream mode leaderboards, Weekly Challenge, and in-game Store in #TRON RUN/r. This likely affects all versions (PC, PS4, XB1). (Thanks to Microtron on Steam for letting me know.)

https://help.disney.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/TRON-Run-r-Stream-Mode-and-associated-online-services-will-no-longer-be-functional-after-5-1-17

The leaderboards for the other game modes (Disc, Cycle, Outlands) were still working the last time I checked. But this may not last, as all those leaderboards seem to rely on the same server that the Stream leaderboards do.

If anyone is interested in taking a look at a fan-made fantasy (read more like D&D) conversion to Star Wars.
There's a new beta release for Sky Wars: Edge of the Kingdom! (For those who are unaware, this is a fantasy conversion of the Edge of the Empire game system.)

#TRON 2.0 is currently 15% off ($8.49 US) during GOG.com’s summer sale, until June 20th, 2017!

https://www.gog.com/game/tron_20

If being completely DRM-free is important to you – meaning no restrictions on how often you can install the game, on how many computers you want it on in your household, and without ever needing to be online to play – then grab 2.0 from GOG!

It’s completely compatible with all the fan-made mods, and all versions of the game (Retail Disc, Steam, GOG) can play online Multiplayer together with the Killer App Mod installed. Here’s a guide that explains more. (Even though the guide is hosted on Steam, the advice applies to all the different versions.)

And as a heads-up: this year’s Steam Summer sale should start June 22nd, shortly after the GOG sale ends. So all 3 TRON games (TRON RUN/r, TRON Evolution, TRON 2.0) will likely be on sale there, too.

From "Cantina Band" to "Jabba Flow," it's easy to get the music of the Star Wars galaxy stuck in your head for days.

Anyone having trouble with the Leaderboards, Weekly Challenge, or in-game Store on #TRON RUN/r not working? Any version of the game. (Steam, PS4, XB1.)

A few days ago, a fellow TRON RUN/r player let me know that there was a problem with the leaderboards in the game. None of them were working. No scores would load.

So I tried myself, and sure enough. None of them worked.

I decided to wait a few days and try again. Today, some of the leaderboards work. The Friend and Global leaderboards work in Disc, Cycle, and Outlands modes.

But not in Stream mode. Friend, Global, Duels … none of them work. The Weekly Challenge also does not work. (Then again, Weekly Challenge never worked for me on Steam, since the beginning. Someone playing on PS4 also said it never worked.)

Plus, the in-game Store is not working. Can’t buy bits with real money. Aw, darn. (sarcasm)
