Very interesting interview!

We have a new episode of GenreTainment! For this 99th episode we are chatting with filmmaker and conlang professional Britton Watkins. Britton tells us how he became involved with conlang (which stands for constructed languages) which lead him to learning fictional alien languages like Na'vi, Vulcan, Klingon, and creating his own languages for his science fiction film Senn. He also tells us how those skills landed him a job on Star Trek Into Darkness and we learn about his upcoming feature documentary on conlang, called Conlanging.

Hi,

Downloaded the O keyboard for the IPA layout. So far so good, but I'm having trouble getting most of the diacritics on letters. For instance, something as simple as /ã/ seems to elude me. Can anyone help me understand what I'm doing wrong?

For the record, so far I've found the tilde diacritic ~ under the comma key, but when I put that one and add "a" to it, I get ~a rather than ã...

The update works for me so far. The issue I had has disappeared, as long as I remember to add the diacritics after I added the letter. But something like /a̩͂/ now works without a problem. I'll keep testing though, just to see that all the kinks are out.

Dear Lazy Web,

Anyone has any experience with the IPA keyboard layout of the Multiling O Keyboard Android app? (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kl.ime.oh) I'm trying to use it to finally be able to type IPA on my phone, but I'm having issues with getting diacritics on letters. Just getting something as simple as ã can't seem to work, while tie bars are no problem...

Any help is appreciated.

I'm thinking of trying the original one, but it's not supported anymore, while Multiling O is actively being worked on...

Introduction
I'm French, living in the Netherlands with my husband. A language geek and a conlanger, I find linguistics fascinating, although in my daily life I'm an engineer. I'm a voracious reader, but you will also find me often watching Japanese anime and live-action series. I write, and you can find the results of my writing on my blog. I am also the current President of the Language Creation Society. And last but not least, I'm the proud owner of the sweetest dog in the world!
Bragging rights
I've directed 4 theatre plays and played in 3 others. I was also the local organiser of the 4th Language Creation Conference.
