There are so many things you can say about the ISTE experience. For one, it is completely overwhelming. From meeting celebrity educators like Alice Keeler, inspiring keynotes from the likes of Jennie Magiera, to the new and innovative teaching techniques and tools. This year was better than last at least for me for a number of reasons. Let's start with the location. San Antonio has one of the nicest convention centers I have ever been in.

Last year was my first ISTE conference. It was completely overwhelming. It was not only my first time at this conference, it was also my first visit to Denver. This year, I will be traveling to San Antonio for the event. As with any large conference,  you will go back to your hotel room every night with a migraine if you are not prepared. So here is my advice for all first timers.

Don't try and attend sessions all day long.

Waiting to find out if you made the most recent Google Innovator Cohort #WDC17 is painful. You check your email all day, hang out on Twitter, and pretend not to be doing these things while at work. I thought the date was yesterday. I instead got another surprise-I was invited to the Google Geo Institute in Mountain View. Yes, I'm going to the Mothership.

I have not embraced the sketchnoting craze. I've tried and failed miserably. Keep in mind that I taught art for several years, and consider myself a fairly decent artist on several levels. However even armed with an iPad Pro and pencil I have been unable to successfully draw anything on my device that would even remotely be considered art. Oh, I've met Sylvia Duckworth, I own her book, and attended her presentations at ISTE 2016.

After much work I am ready to officially launch my new website created by the one and only Briana O'Hern (aka my daughter). I am so proud of her and her accomplishments. She is so smart and put in a lot of time to set this up for me in time for the latest Google Innovator deadline.

It’s a movement. Lesson Design vs. Lesson Planning. It’s a book. It’s a website with a ton of resources. It’s an online course by EdTech Team. It’s what everyone is talking about. It’s changing the way teachers deliver their lessons. It’s Hyperdocs.
