Confession: I Seriously Over-Analyze

I am constantly over-analyzing situations.  I can’t stand when I do it, but I almost can’t stop myself.  Lately I have been trying to make a conscious effort to stop over-thinking things I cannot change.  It is a serious problem that just makes me… #confession #letting_go #over_thinking

I stayed at this hotel on a Tuesday and Wednesday night, I booked online and paid $50/night. OVERALL: I'll be back. NOT SO GOOD: There is no free breakfast, only coffee, and no mini fridge in the room. Sheets and blankets are so thin we were cold at night, even with the A/C off. The walls are paper thin, you can hear the TV or shower going on of your next door neighbor, and the kids running down the hall and the neighbor across the hall talking to her kids. GOOD: All that aside, the shower was nice and hot, there was a motion sensor light in the bathroom (bring your own towels, its like sandpaper), the bathroom and room were clean. The window opens about 5 inches, the TV is big and you get free HBO, plus it has a USB and HDMI plug. All the lights turned on and had conveniently placed switches. There was a safe in the room if you needed it. Lots of pillows, even if they were small, they were comfy. Convenient location, approx 25mins to Cedar Point/Sandusky. The road has several restaurants and gas stations making getting amenities really easy. I would come back.

Great place to camp on the weekends. I go there tent camping and the sites are all fairly conveniently located to the bathrooms. All sites should have picnic tables and fire pits/grill space. A great pond for fishing, even though the quality has gone a little downhill, late summer sees some wicked algae growth that covers the pond. All the people are really friendly and lots of people have been coming here for over 20 years. It is family owned and they are really helpful. There are theme nights, like dances or poker/casino nights. Basketball courts, playgrounds, swings, sand volleyball court, a beach/pond for swimming separate from the fishing pond. Electric or non-electric/primitive sites available. Trailer or tent options. Definitely check it out!

The food is great, and they do a wonderful job when you let them know that you are gluten free. They have special plates they use to tell the orders apart. The lettuce wraps are to die for!

3 stars for the price. (the online price is different from the in hotel price to book, so always book online if you can, its a $30 difference!) If all you're doing here is sleeping, its not bad. The room had clean sheets and towels. The floor was shaggy brown carpet. The heater worked fabulously and I didn't think it was too loud to sleep. One of the lamps didn't have a light bulb and all of the lamps were unplugged when we first got in there. There was no garbage can anywhere in the room, not even in the bathroom. It had a small microwave and fridge, the fridge worked fine, didn't try the microwave. It was a tube TV and the remote didn't work at all. The phone message light was flashing the whole time before we even got in the room. The towels were so tiny, its like they were meant for toddlers, and the 2 bath towels weren't even the same size. They felt like you were using sandpaper to dry off. The bathroom heat vent was covered in black dust and there were dirt/stains on the counters. It looked like the window to outside could open and there was an electrical extension cord right outside, but not sure it was connected to anything because of all the snow, couldn't see where it went. It has a bar connected to it, Borderlines Grill, which is a small local bar. Open until 230am, with a decent selection of liquors and beer, and bar food. We ate dinner here in hopes that it would be less pricey then going out to eat. I had the cheeseburger and the burger was dry. The fries ($1.00 extra) were steak fries and looked like they'd been boiled and not fried. They were soggy and didn't really taste cooked all the way. I barely ate anything, told the bartender it wasn't very good and was told she never received any complaints about the food. I highly doubt that. My boyfriend got the mozzarella sticks, which he said were crispy and very good. The chicken strips were just lukewarm, but tasty. He had 3 jack/cokes, and I had 3 Angry Orchard bottles. Total, we spent about $35 for the food and drinks. The bartender was very nice.

The hotel is clean and its located right off the 53/20 split. Its about 5-10mins away from shopping and restaurants. Its in a safe area too. The hotel was clean, no complaints there. The lobby smelled of incense and the "continental breakfast" is a joke. 2 cold cereals, juice, and maybe 3 hot dishes, but nowhere to sit. The breakfast counter is located in the lobby. There are no vending machines for pop or snacks. The worst part of the stay was the bed. It was like sleeping on the floor. I was up every 30-45mins, I just could not fall asleep for very long. Tossing and turning all night. Plus, a few of the lamps weren't even plugged in, let alone near an outlet. It has a mini fridge which was plugged in, also has a microwave which WASN'T plugged in, or near an outlet. I had to move it into the bathroom because that's the only available outlet that I could also set the microwave somewhere. There was a coffee maker, but no coffee packs in your room. Overall, I won't be back! Also, I got this room for $55.49, that includes fees/taxes. I would say its worth less because of the comfort level.

Called this taxi company to give us a ride from a hotel to the Hollywood Casino. We called about 9pm on a Saturday night and were told 45mins. That sounded reasonable. We gave them our phone number and waited. And waited, and waited. We called after an hour and were told the cab driver should have been there, then they hung up. We called after another 15mins and the phone was never answered, we kept calling and finally they said they would check out where the driver was and we asked them to call us back. They never did. A little before 11pm we called a final time, at this point it was 15 times within 30mins. I left a message detailing how irate I was that they wasted our night after they were recommended by the hotel staff! We left and drove ourselves to the casino and never got a call from the cab company. We will never call this company again and I'm going to let everyone know how they waste your time.

Really great food here. Almost always the food is fantastic. Last time we went was a Saturday night, and we were not impressed by the food. I won't hold that against them, everyone has off days. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The margaritas are great if not a little pricey. Mango is so good. I always get the tostadas with chicken, it's not on the menu, but you can still order it. 2 tostadas is a good size meal. Plus the chips and salsa is really good. Great atmosphere.
