Freddi's Story
Freddi's story is one which inspires me, and underlines my motivations for doing this.  This is Freddi. Freddi was found being attacked by larger dogs whilst trying to scavenge for food. An angel rescued him, literally snatching him from the jaws of death. ...

Nature's in Trouble. A groundbreaking study, launched by Sir David Attenborough today, has found wildlife in decline with six out of ten UK species threatened. 25 conservation organisations across the UK have joined together to call on people to take action.

The total number of larger moths had fallen by 28% since the late 1960s and two-thirds of the 337 species monitored had declined, and 37% by more than half;

72% of butterfly species had decreased over the previous 10 years, including common garden butterflies that had declined by 24%;

The UK has lost 44 million breeding birds since the late 1960s;
In 16 counties, one plant species went extinct every other year;

Britain's mammals have seen losses and gains, with decline of hedgehogs, the ongoing loss of red squirrels, and the recovery of otters;

In 2010, Norman Maclean's book Silent Summer summarised dramatic declines in the UK's insect populations, and concluded that 'our wildlife is clearly in for a bumpy ride'

Hedgehogs and bonfires don't mix - please remember to thoroughly check bonfires before lighting them...

Upping the stakes...
So apparently, walking 19 miles in the dark, most likely in the rain in the miserable British weather isn't enough for some of you... but apparently many of you would be willing to see this wonderful man... ...dressed up in some of these items... So... how ...

Such respect for this lad!

18 year old James' 102 mile journey from Chipping Camden to Bath finishes today with a final 24 mile walk. He's had it tough with a lot of challenges - sweltering weather, blisters galore on feet and shoulders (his backpack weighs 22kgs!), an unplanned detour, thunderstorms and a leaking tent preventing him from sleeping to name just a few.

He's on his final leg of his journey, and he really wants to meet his £1000 target so if you can support him and spread the word to friends and family, or just offer some friendly encouragement for this determined 18 year old he would really appreciate it! (Plus if you tick gift aid you'll effectively increase your donation by 25% without any extra cost to you!)

The rare large blue butterfly is now flying at our Daneway Banks nature reserve, Sapperton. Now's a great chance to get out and see this rare, and once extinct in the UK, butterfly.

http://www.gloucestershirewildlifetrust.co.uk/reserves/Daneway-Banks

Despite its name, the Large Blue is actually a fairly small butterfly but the largest of our blues. Adults fly for a very short period from the end of June to the beginning of July. Always rare in the UK, it declined dramatically during the 20th century and became extinct in 1979. Reintroduced in the early 1980s, small populations are now surviving in the south of England.
