If you’re reading this article at work, there’s a decent chance you’re wearing headphones. It has never been easier to tune in to your own customized soundtrack—or more necessary to tune out your open-office coworkers, cubicle mates, and fellow coffee-shop denizens. But not all music is created equal, especially when there's work to be done. How...

Been wearing headphones at work for the past 6 years. Mainly because I can't stand the whispering and hushed tones of some co-workers. But it does help me concentrate and be more productive.

thats true, but there is a twist, he would under promise others and over deliver, however when it came to himself, he would always over promise, make huge and tall promises, and he would follow up with massive actions to fulfill those promises to himself.

Old: Call whenever / always answer.
New: Text before calling / answer if you can have a conversation
‪#‎evolution‬ ‪#‎manners‬

Similar with leaving voicemails. Most offending Voicemail practice: "hey, it's so and so, just calling to say hi. Give me a call when you can". Awful waste of time and attention.
Caller ID missed call is enough to convey all that.
If the message is complicated enough to leave a voicemail, it's better to talk about it or leave written directions.
Otherwise your asking the other person to turn his/her full attention to a voice message and take notes without even providing a hint of the importance of the message.
The problem with VM is that there are no signals to importance or context. The person is forced to listen to it in its entirety ASAP (because you never know priority).
A text provides context and priority. Lets the other person decide when to address the issue.
"need to tell you the results of my blood test" vs "I have a great new joke". Would probably entice different reactions if the receiver is on a meeting, or having dinner with a date, or in a noisy environment.
A VM accompanied by a text may work to convey better emotion. As in a romantic VM accompanied by a text "left you a silly VM, nothing urgent". Would be ultimate in consideration.

Agree with you Christian. Most of the time, you will notice the voicemails are just silence.

Again, it is consideration for the receiving person. In urgent situation or any situation, it's better to be straight to the point.
