"Our Lord did not cut himself off from society, yet He never allowed anything to interfere with His consecration of spiritual power. We are to be in the world but not of it--to be separated internally, not externally. We must never allow anything to interfere with the consecration of our spiritual power. Consecration (being dedicated to God's service) is our part; sanctification (being set apart from sin and being made holy) is God's part." --Oswald Chambers, from My Utmost for His Highest

Moral Traits, Not Memory, Considered Core Component of Our Identity

We may view our memory as being essential to who we are, but new findings suggest that others consider our moral traits to be the core component of our identity. Data collected from family members of patients suffering from neurodegenerative disease showed that it was changes in moral behavior, not memory loss, that caused loved ones to say that the patient wasn't "the same person" anymore.

The research is in Psychological Science. (full access paywall)

My thoughts exactly~
This is for the young men. As I was growing up I came to the conclusion that I was not that super cool Romeo type dude. Even though in my head I wanted to be this, it wasn't me. I had a gift and that gift was the ability to listen and be understanding when it came to a women's need. I was non-threating to women and always lent my ear when someone need to talk. My main focus wasn't to get women into bed but I did want a wife to share my life with. I made mistakes but never forced my sexual will upon a female or tricked them into sex by saying "this will take our love to the next level". If God today came down and said, "Zane I will take sex away from you and your wife Vanesa", I will be content. Being next to my wife and sharing life with her is all that matters to me. It's a feeling that is unexplainable. As I was in church today worship had started and the church band was singing. My wife was running late and was not there yet. As I started worshiping and singing, I was happy. But when my wife walked in, I lit up and my soul was overjoyed seeing her walk in. Tears swelled up in my eyes and I gave her a kiss. Young men it's not about the sex a women can give you, it's about the life you're willing to share with them.

Proverbs 31:10-31 ESV
An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands. She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. ....
