Beautiful!
After many years abroad in pretty damn interesting destinations, and having visited over 30 countries, I "had to" return to my native South Africa just over a year ago. At first, the "reverse culture shock" paralyzed me and I really believed that my beloved street photography will have to come to an end due to the ever-present aggression I generally feel on the streets of South Africa. I was not used to that kind of cultural attitude anymore and I was tremendously disappointed. What confused me even more was that I couldn't get myself to find a new genre of photography that will keep me interested, and it really sucked for a long time. I sat down and wrote an article that really expressed how pissed-off I was: https://plus.google.com/102409541521880756024/posts/JjbUdwyjudK

However, as time went by, I learned to open myself up to the local possibilities again, and started actively searching for areas where I could relatively safely find interesting street life, character and soul. It's an ongoing project and search, and may well eventually lead to a few new things, but this search has also lead my to explore B&W as a medium of expression. As a result, more and more of my street work (especially my South Africa impressions) is now in mono.

This album represents my 2013 mono work done in South Africa. Hope you like it, and feel free to leave opinions.

So sad!
Imagine if you had to work hard not to scare people. Incredible story.
