Don't worry, this is using my existing game engine, as well as a metric ton of unity asset store assets. I'm participating in the jam, and am not starting from scratch.

Even better, make it happen very rarely, like once every 5000 times, then the user be like "WTH? Did I just see that?"

Just thought I'd share some work in progress on my game: working on characters, names and bios for the new and improved http://familiarsguild.com

#gamedev   #screenshotsaturday

My name's Dido Dungeroo. I studied the art of swordfighting in a secret school hidden in the mountains. I'm a fast runner (5 tiles), lethal with my swirling rapier (many criticals), and have lightning-fast dodge reflexes.

My name is Bashi McFunk. I'm known to smash stuff, but I secretly want to be a dancer. I move slow (3 tiles) but I can take a beating (tons of HP). I can go berserk and hit multiple enemies in one turn.

The name's Spex Acto, and I'm known to cause earthquakes. I can split any rock in half. I can cause crystals to shatter my enemies, or tremors and boulders to pound them to a pulp. I'm weak in a hand-to-hand fight but great at a distance.

Sal Silverwing I'm Sal Silverwing and I'm half-pixie, half-human. I'm also a hopeless romantic. I can summon light and dark, ghosts and wind, and I can turn invisible. I have no melee weapons, and need to hang back.

Blastid Fiddlespark Greetings. My name is Blastid Fiddlespark, pleased to meet you. I am a warlock who loves to turn up the heat. I am master of lava, meteors, flames and sparks.

Thought I'd share some recent #gamedev  work in progress. Today I spent time implementing the health/action points HUD display.

I'm working my hardest this week to amp up the "polish". Here's my todo list: =)

[] inject FUNK
[] tweak feel
[] smear gameloop grease
[] tighten input
[] amp up party vibe
[] juice it

Is this a game about what the Familiars do while NOT going along on the "Humans' " permadeath very scary dank & dangerous cave spelunking adventure?  (Guess where my gamedev/genre is going.)  Your Familiars Guild game looks great thus far.  I like the movement/something(hit capacity?), ah, health bar, ok, got it (see above:) adventurer personal menu and shield icons.

From the video, your last video,[ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyIG4K3u2IU ], the walking sounds are a little abrupt, maybe some easing(volume envelope?), but in this early stage, way cool!
The lamp/candle lighting ambiance is heartening.

Thanks again, Oh most mighty DM.  Lead on.
( P.S. very expressionistic and obtuse todo list:
[there's nothing like leaving yourself some options, eh?] )

An option to toggle off the blur might be appreciated.  I had to flat out stop playing Stacking because the blur made playing physically painful.

McFunkypants: indie game developer. I try to only post about #gamedev.
Introduction
Also known as Breakdance McFunkypants, Christer Kaitila is a full time game developer, author, game jam enthusiast, amateur musician, proud dad and lead programmer at Amagam Software, an Indie Game Developer based in Victoria, Canada.

A lifelong coder, he grew up part of the old-school “demoscene” BBS culture and spent his youth in shady arcades. In university he studied AI and 3d game engines.

Nowadays he hangs out with game devs at speed-programming “game jams” and 48 hour competitions such as Ludum Dare, where he is one of the moderators and occasional host of game jams.

He has written over 50 business applications, a dozen videogames, 25 songs, two pencil-and-dice roleplaying games, and a billion really bad puns.

Author of a book on Molehill (Flash 11 Stage3D) game programming and currently working on a book about game jams.
