I'm focusing my resources on Perpetual Motion machines, Homeopathy and the application of Telekinesis for smartphone user interfaces at the moment. I made these decisions last month, so I would recommend using your Time Machine to suggest this to me last Summer. Thanks!

Recently over dinner a friend explained to me the ancient Japanese art of woodblock printing. He has been collecting fine works for years and the idea fascinated me.

Here is my first try with a laser-etched woodblock. I see now how tricky it can be to get all the ink on the paper, but only where you want it. The results aren't too bad, and now the office smells like a forest fire!

Haha I love the Kim Jong Un idea, looks so cool. Reminds me of something Banksy would of made!

I'm not sure what this is called, but I say 光バイク族. Don't be fooled by the pink neon, these guys all looked like bad-asses.

五時のチャイム

Every day at 5:00 a little song is played over loudspeakers in Tokyo. I have heard that the song is different in different areas, but where I live this is the song I hear every day reminding me to come home from the rice fields for dinner.

About a week ago the annual Illumination lights were set up in my neighborhood as well. And they come on at 5PM also. What I mean is they come on exactly at 5PM when the chime starts playing. These two systems aren't linked in any way -- it might be something as simple as a person hitting the switch when they hear the chimes playing for all I know. When I first moved here I used to watch a GPS-synced clock and it was uncanny to watch the 4 change to a 5 exactly when the first note of the song played.

Japanese people are very precise about time, so of course the lights come on exactly at 5PM. In fact it would seem quite strange if the lights were delayed by even a second or two. It's one of the cool little unique things that makes life interesting here.

+Chris Yerga humans can adjust to almost anything. They survived cultural revolution, and they'll get through Kenny G. They're a resilient people.

I saw TV commercials of this campaign running in the US earlier this week. The concept certainly plays well there. Granted there's a dearth of 15 story billboards there...
