Hard to imagine my daughter is so grown up now and has her own baby to raise.  Playing around in the front window area as the light was nice and it was raining outside.

Playing around today with Perfect Effects 8 on some images from the US Naval Academy. The fun thing about this kind of software is it makes you go back and look at images you took in the past and see what their potential is now.

What could be better than spending the morning fishing the Golden Horn at the Galata Bridge in Istanbul with a view of the New Mosque. At this time of year most of the fishermen are catching hamsi, or mackerel. They will be rolled in flour and fried whole in some hot oil!

I would be game for that.  Love most seafood. In Germany, most people seasoned whole Mackerel, wrapped it in aluminum foil and baked it for about 15 minutes.

Worth passing on. I always enjoy good public awareness advertisements. This one from Thailand by Wacoal Thailand for their Beauty Inside campaign. Consists of 3 videos, all with rather emotional endings. About 20 minutes in length but worth it.

I always enjoy walking the back street off of the tourist routes when we travel. Wandering around Istanbul a few blocks from the Grand Bazaar we found streets with clothing for regular Turkish people more so than tourists. These little Sultan costumes are for boys to wear at their circumcision parties, a ritual of passage that usually occurs when a boy is between 8 and 14 and is seen as a step towards manhood. The jackets and ties I assume are for boys who have become young men!

Thanks to +Matt Kloskowski and #kelbyone for a great session today in Houston on #adobelightroom5 , Matt did a great job as the solo presenter covering all sorts of training topics and I for one learned a lot of new tricks and came away happy even if I didn't win the big door prize! #kelbytraining is one of the best resources for staying on top of new software techniques.
Inside the Blue Mosque in Istanbul one man prays to God. I hope his prayers were answered.

I'd rather be taking pictures!
Photographer, chef, wine collector, woodworker, auto mechanic, traveler, husband, father and grand father.

I spent 30 years taking pictures for a living, some very fun times and some rather boring ones depending on the client or the subject matter. I am now focusing on what I want to photograph; nature, landscapes, travel, family and such and not so much on what an art director or client tells me they want. The pay sucks but I'm having more fun and I have way better equipment then when I had my studio!

I finally have my own woodworking shop to satisfy my urge to play in sawdust and so far I still have all my fingers. I enjoy cooking and entertaining family and friends and sharing a good glass of wine as well!
