I spent about seven months on this, on and off. It will be on the cover of Sunday's magazine.

In this week's Shall We Play a Game?, JJ interviews Ernest Cline, the author of "Ready Player One" and "Armada," and then interviews Laura Hudson of Wired and Offworld about her negative review of "Armada" in Slate.

I forgot to post the new podcast on Tuesday: An interview with "Tonight Show" producer Gavin Purcell and a review of "The Magic Circle," a game about playing video games. http://www.shallweshow.com

New podcast! JJ and I review "Lifeline," a game designed for the Apple Watch, and "Fallout Shelter," a polygamous cult simulator that may not realize it's a polygamous cult simulator. Plus we talk to narrative designer Cara Ellison about working on "Grand Theft Auto IV" and "Dishonored 2."  http://shallweshow.com/http://shallweshow.com/2015/07/lifeline-fallout-shelter-narrative-designer-cara-ellison/

We review "Sunset" and "Her Story" in this week's podcast. One of them gets the dubious honor of our very first rating of "The Only Winning Move Is Not to Play." (Hint: It's not "Her Story.") https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/shall-we-play-a-game/id1003517163?mt=2&i=346651554 Or at shallweshow.com.

I think our new "Shall We Play a Game?" episode is our best one yet. JJ and I review "Batman: Arkham Knight" and then talk to Salon literary critic Laura Miller about her video game obsession.

New podcast: I talk about putting my hands on, or my head inside, HoloLens, Oculus Touch, No Man's Sky, and (my favorite), What Remains of Edith Finch? Plus, the ambient sounds of Rhode Island frogs. shallweshow.com/2015/06/e3-2015/

I have started a new podcast with JJ Sutherland, a former NPR producer and correspondent who has produced shows like Morning Edition and All Things Considered. He was the first blogger for NPR. I was the first blogger for the New York Times. He's covered wars and been NPR's Baghdad bureau chief. I covered a presidential campaign. So of course we're going to talk about video games.

Please subscribe! If you like it, review us. We think it will be good.

I started as critic at large at Kotaku this week. I'll still be writing for the Times, Wired and elsewhere, but this is my new home, especially for video game criticism. Here's my first review. I'll be writing every week.
