This year, I believe more people should start blogging to build their personal brands, develop content marketing or just have a creative outlet. Here's my foundation for any successful blog simplified into 5 steps.

Looking back at the past month, it's been a big shift. I believe I'll be in a better position for 2017 and I'm ready to make the most of it.

More companies should narrow their focus, in my opinion. At least before thinking something is broken. Getting feedback from a wide variety of potential customers can diminish how well you can build your product or service.

Specialists win. Focus your target audience and deliver a specialized product for them. You can scale faster, create a loyal following and build authority.

Don't think of focus as a limitation, but as the fastlane.

Times have changed. Getting the best value for clients is a very different world now. I have turned away so many clients in the past year because we couldn't "make it work" with budget and services needed.

After much feedback and months of working on a solution, I've decided to launch an online course that goes through the things I get asked about the most: the building blocks of marketing and creating a sales funnel.

I hope this solves the marketing problems for clients who just need a little expertise but are capable of doing most of their marketing on their own or have a marketing team that needs a refresher on what they are accomplishing.

I love behind the scenes videos, breaking down how things are done. Its a great way to learn shortcuts and understand how things are made. Its only fair I pay it forward and be transparent with how I do things. Here's the latest - my transparent sales funnel for my upcoming online course launch.

I gained a lot of value and learned a different framework for making a good impression and having a strong personal brand. Whether you use this to get ready for your next interview, or to be a catalyst for your career path, or like me, developing a personal brand that I can leverage in the future, this advice is coming straight from someone who measures people every single day.

I believe it is your duty as a startup to say ‘no’ more than ‘yes’ and stay true to your core offerings. While this limitation is forced upon you more easily in a product business, service businesses get caught in the trap of saying ‘yes’ to requests when trying to grow. Especially when bootstrapping.

Combat BRF (B*tch Resting Face) ... Being negative is scientifically proven to drain more energy. Did you know it takes less effort to smile than to frown? Give your muscles a break and smile. Be #positive. Be Happy. Get better results in your life.
