Honoured to be a featured guest on Sean Howard's (+passitalong) show Taking the Leap!.

Sean asks me about reconnecting with lost passions, exploring abandoned theme parks around the world, ending up on ABC News, becoming timeless, embracing silence, and how to live long and prosper.

This week I am speaking with musician, web developer and urban exploration photographer extraordinaire, Chris Luckhardt. We are talking about slowing down, finding lost passions and dealing with interests that grow beyond being hobbies. Chris outs himself in two surprising ways in this episode. "One night, shortly after the events of 9/11, I asked my father about the potential lasting effects of the terrorist attack. We had a long, wide-ranging conversation touching on the topics of war, politics, economics, and even our immediate and extended family history. As the conversation came to a close, I commented about its depth and how much I felt I learned from him. He summarized the conversation by stating, 'You can’t know your future without knowing your past.'”

Exploring the abandoned Nara Dreamland theme park in Japan on an April morning, in extremely foggy and damp conditions, before sunrise. I was climbing to the top of the extremely slippery 98.4ft roller coaster when I got this shot.

A journalism student recently wrote an article about abandoned places. She requested usage of my photos of Six Flags New Orleans, Holley High School and St Agnes Catholic School.

I've always had an interest in history especially historic buildings with their grand staircases and libraries and also the ever present question. Who lived there? What happened there? So when I re...

Associating abandoned places with Christmas might seem like a dark topic to explore. Fortunately, my experience with the combination has been rare; the two locations were spread across disparate states in America.

An interview I did last week with +OPIN Software about the upcoming release of Drupal 8. The interview also includes quotes from that +Dries Buytaert guy ;) and a mention about the inaugural Drupal North Regional Summit (drupalnorth.org) on June 25-28th in Toronto.

Curious about Drupal 8? So are we!! The release of the greatly-anticipated Drupal 8 has long been the source of curiosity, excitement and, with a spate of delays, some frustration.

Deep underground in the Kanagawa region of Japan is a series of tunnels spanning 27km (according to conservative estimates). They were built during World War 2 as protection from United States air raids. The tunnel system was intricate; it was home to a 500 bed hospital, power plant, numerous warehouses and even a submarine factory!

The Japanese Tunnels are a series of underground bunkers and passageways built by the Japanese during World War II in order to store and move soldiers and weapons across the island out of reach of Allied bombings....

The Elizalde Cement Company from the Philippines built this facility near Beatty, Nevada, a few years before the outbreak of World War II. There is little solid information about the facility, but tidbits of information have become available in recent years. Due to logistical issues (economics of the time, distance, escalating labour costs, inferior cement) the plant closed shortly after opening.

In subsequent years, information about the abandoned facility is mostly limited to rumours about a land swap with the US government for Subic Bay.
