Be careful of what you think you're paying for. The Grand Sierra Resort is certainly one of the best places to stay when you're in Reno. Great views and a large property make it fun for everyone. That is until you find out that what you thought you paid for isn't really what you paid for and no one can really answer the single question of why. So my wife and I checked in on Wednesday 7/8/15. We pulled in to valet and were promptly greeted by a nice fella who offered us help for our bags. My wife is 6 months pregnant so it was a nice gesture. We walked up to the counter and a really nice woman with glasses helped us check in and asked us if we'd like a better room in the summit towers for $20 bucks more a night. since we are staying for a few days the upgrade sounded like a good idea. We said sure and headed up to our room on the 26th floor. Fast forward to today. I was cruising around the GSR site and found out that there is a concierge level on the 25th floor that is open to anyone staying on 25-27. The site claims to serve a free pastry breakfast, coffee, drinks etc. this was great news because as I mentioned my wife is 6mo pregnant and the idea not having to trek all the way through the casino for a muffin was a welcomed one. Pregnant women need food fast and often sometimes. Now, Here is where this all falls apart and now I feel totally duped. So we head down to 25th floor only to find at our key card doesn't work. So I hop on the phone to call the front desk and ask if they could fix it. Seems like a glitch that might happen. The lady who answers the phone might have had a long night as she was very short in her tone like I was a kid who had done something wrong and informs me that our upgrade was for the room only. She informs me that we get none of the amenities that come along with staying on these floors. I don't really understand what that means so I decide to head down to the casino to learn more and grab a muffin for my pregnant wife from Starbucks. I walk up to the desk and ask the woman behind the counter why our room didn't include said amenities. She tells me that when we checked in they were out of standard rooms (which we had booked) and our room was a free upgrade. I said "I'm pretty we are paying for this upgrade." She says "oh, yes you are paying $20 for the summit room upgrade. If you want concierge too it's another $20 per night." What!? I asked her "so when we checked in, we agreed to pay for an upgrade that should of been free? Now you're telling me that the free upgrade we paid for is actually not a full upgrade but, Rather a partial upgrade." She looked down at her computer and said "yes" I wouldn't normally be so upset about this but none of this makes any sense. All I wanted was to get a pastry for my pregnant wife and now I find out that our room should have been a free upgrade. I find out that the upgrade we paid for wasn't really an upgrade but rather only part of an upgrade. It's so confusing and no one seems to be able to tell me what's really going on. The most frustrating thing about this that We never asked to be upgraded. we were presented with the option and chose it. We were never informed of the concierge room or even the option to include it. We learned about it on our own only to find out we weren't part of that club even though we meet the criteria described on the GSR site. I feel taken advantage of, upset and wife is still hungry.

i always have to explain myself every single time I call. Not a person there seems to communicate with anyone else. Or their entire software system refuses to keep any sort of proper notes. I hate dealing with this place.
